For the Christians that do believe that being homosexual is a sin, I was just curious about what advise you might give this situation.
If there was a homosexual couple living together, or having a legal "union" for about 10 years, than something happens that makes them strong believers.
What would you as christians suggest they do, knowing a man should not lay with a man, but knowing they have such love for each other, and cannot imagine living without one another.
What would a Christian do?
And if you do advise them to repent and go their separate ways, what would you advise them on Matthew 5:28 "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." How would you leave someone of 10 years (still loving them in your heart) and not lust for them?

I am not homosexual (but I always believe love is better than hate) and I have read the bible, but have a lot more to learn, and just want some christian opinions.

I do agree with zannakc that all sin is equal, I do believe the one's who judge others, will be right there with the ones commiting the sins. I believe LOVE is ALWAYS better than HATE.
Although, here is where things get tricky.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God

So because of the different religions that do not believe Jesus is the son of God, and then there is Fornication - Having sex, without being married. I am GUILTY, EVERYONE I know is guilty of that one. If this book is true, 95% of Humans will not "inherit the kingdom".
I CANNOT believe that God would bother making us, if he didn't want us with him in Heaven.

I think you confuse love with lust. As far as Mathew 5:28 is concerned, I think the best thing they can do is separate completely. It would certainly be tough at the start and there would be lust involved but time is the great healer. With time they would get over the other person and with help(from groups like Exodus Int.(http://www.exodus-international.org/) and with Gods help(which is foundational with groups like Exodus) a person can change. You tell that to a homosexual activist and they will not accept it under any conditions. They just don't want to believe it. It doesn't matter that many homosexuals were in that lifestyle for 10 or more years and have changed. Many of them have been married for 20 or 30 years and have kids and even grandkids. A homosexual activist will still say that that person is faking it. Groups like Exodus are quite succesful for those who are willing to turn their life over to Christ. I don't think they work very well for those who don't want God in their life. But I've even heard of secular ministries that have helped homosexuals change their lifestyle. I think it's a myth that once a homosexual always a homosexual.
I also think it's a myth that homosexuals are born that way(the idea that homosexuality is in the genes). Where's the proof of that? There's never been one iota of proof of that(at least that I've seen). They've done identity twin studies since the 1950's. One study in Australia has almost 15,000 identical twins they've studied. Everytime identical twins are born they follow them up until they are adults to see if one of them becomes gay. If homosexuality is in the genes then whenever one is gay then the other should be gay 100% of the time(since identical twins have identical genes). The studies have shown the opposite. Whenever one is gay, at least 70% of the time the other is heterosexual. On the 15,000 twin study I think the results were when one is gay the other is heterosexual 78% of the time. Also, in this day and age, everyone seems to believe in evolution. Evolution is fueled by natural selection(survival of the fittest). Another way to describe natural selection is just to say that whatever species is best adapted to pass on it's genes will survive. The species that are least able to pass on their genes will go extinct. By that theory, homosexuals should have gone extinct long ago since they don't have natural kids of their own and therefore don't pass on their genes. But it doesn't matter anyhow because I've already shown you that it isn't in the genes. I think most people(including Oprah and Dr. Phil) are getting their scientific evidence for homosexuality from hollywood.

Here is a twist to this - I don't believe that any sin is greater than another. With that said, if you are a person that say, gossips, would you automatically go to hell even if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savoir? Don't think that is what is said in the Bible.

If a person is a believer, meaning they have asked Jesus into there hearts and been born again, being Homosexual is no different than any other sin that we all struggle with. We are all sinners, and always will be until death.

I don't know what God would have us do in this situation. I have the same question because my brother, my ONLY brother is gay and been in a long term relationship for almost 11 years now.

His partner is a good person, but does not have Jesus in his heart. My brother is a devout Christian. He will be going to Heaven, he is saved. Why is homosexuality so hated? We are told by Jesus not to hate, to love they neighbor. Why do the ones that say if a person is gay they will automatically be going to hell think that is right?

I believe that we are told in the bible to turn away from our sins and repent, but I myself have sins that I seem to keep running to.

Jesus died for our sins, like I said before, if he dwells in your heart you are saved, we are all sinners FOREVER! This is the nature of Man! DEAL WITH IT.

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God

Your example of Matthew 5:8 would not apply to this example, but to all who are guilty of this sin. It is a sin also.

The two men....or women for that matter cannot remain in a homosexual relationship and be Christian.

They would maybe have a few feelings for each other but if they become christians and get baptised the past or old man-past would fade and Christ make all things new.

We ought not to be decieved- christians CANNOT indulge
in homosexuality.If they do it is a spirit of deception from Satan and LUST !!
iF THEY TRULY PUT CHRIST FIRST they will realise and read about sodom and Gomorrah it was and is an abomination to the Lord.Their growing love 4 Jesus will cause them to be friends but never any more than that.
Homosexuals and lesbians have been delivered to have
hetorosexual relationships too.Nothing is impossible for God

As a Christian gay man, I'd tell them that God loves them and having Christ in their relationship will only strengthen it. They should find a church that does not waste time trying to twist homophobia into a virtue, but instead concentrates on the teachings of Jesus (who never condemned homosexuality). They should become members of that church, worship there and study the Bible and the many books that have been written about the handful of verses that are used to promote the anti-gay agenda.

But most of all, they should pray and ask God to send the Holy Spirit to guide them to understanding and always greater widsom.

<----- looking at the loaded question and asking God what are the right words.....

They would need to try and stop if they were truly committed to Christ. I know it is harsh and unfair and it sure as heck wouldn't be easy..Because they probably really love each other. However when you really turn your life over to Christ you want/desire to become a new creation in Him.. that means trying to give up your sin nature. I am not insisting they run out and find women. But I would suggest to them that they pray about it and really seek what God wants and requires of them , after all they don't answer to us they answer to him. Oh and God can remove the lust and break the soul tie.. it is just not easy..

I would ultimately just be there for them and love them no matter what and be grateful that they know Jesus.

I just answered two questions on this very subject.

I think that Gay Christians should form their own church to gain equal access to religious freedom in the United States.

It's a growing population it seems.
Unfortunately for them, many Christians do not seem to be able to wrap their minds around the concept of celibate gays, or are able to separate actions and emotions.

Gay Christians seem to want so badly to be accepted into a community that has obviously turned their backs on them. And the Bible is thoroughly debatable on the subject, it is just very popular for Heterosexual Christians to take the "No Gays Allowed" approach right now.
But the Jews and some Christian churches reguard theft, idolotry, heterosexual sex (outside of marriage) and divorce to be of equal sin-status in the eyes of the lord.

If "gays" want to be christian, I say that is just as much their right as any other sinner.

To all the Nay sayers - I have only this verse to offer:

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for them.

I am a Buddhist myself, so threats of sin and damnation have little to no effect on me.

If they truly accepted Christ, it wouldn't be an issue. You must choose to accept the bible's stance on homosexuality. The old lifestyle would have to come to an end because the Bible tells us: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

This "than something happens that makes them strong believers. " is God changing them from the inside out.

Lust is desireing something that is not given, from God.
Love of one another is given by God.

The closer we draw to God the closer He comes to us.
He gives us our desires. I would advise them to seek Gods will for their lives in His Word and they will tune themselves to hear his voice and be able to recognise it. The voices of doubt and lust will fade into the background.

There are hundreds of Christian support groups in the US, join one and be encouraged.

They should leave each other, and get help and support in different Christian groups

The price is BIG to pay, if we so choose to follow Jesus and take up His cross.

Christians, on the whole, (not just gays and lesbians) pay a big price in following Jesus too. We have to deny ourselves and our flesh desires. We have to be ruthless to sin and show satan no mercy. We say no to pornography, rebellion, premarital sex, and are subjected to ridicule, insult and persecution from unbelievers.
