I realise that so many christians in America can barely fathom a world outside of their own community, never mind their nations borders.
There is a growing global discontent at the arrogance, self serving, ill informed, in denial, scientifically illiterate dialogue that America communicates to the rest of the world, and it is nearly always full of religious, particularly christian rhetoric..
"May god [selectively] bless America" etc

America is but a pup compared to the rest of the world, with fat creationists types being easily manipulated as a political power base, under the guise of "freedom" or "democracy".

The [religious] American military is considered a fumbling mass of badly trained, lower socio-economic cannon fodder, who are frighteningly consitant with "friendly fire" incidents, and no other countries like to work beside them.

The whole world views this with distaste, like they've just sucked on a lemon. Are christians, particularly creationists even aware of this?

Darlene, I'm very happy living in a country much better than yours thanks.
I don't really want to live in a country where murder is daily entertainment, or get mugged, or bashed by police, or become a minority to bigoted ill informed religious fruitcakes like yourself.. Just because desperate Mexicans try to enter your country to escape complete poverty, doesn't mean so much to me. Dream on..

I suppose that is why everyone in the world...most likely you too...would love to live here. Because we are a "pup to the rest of the world", our military (the greatest in the world by the way) is a "fumbling mass of badly trained, lower socioeconomic cannon fodder"...

Yeah...that's it. That's why everyone wants to come to America. Yes, God Bless America...May He always do so!

Sounds like some pretty ignorant foreigners are on here tonight. So, how many Christians in America do you know? That's what I thought...none personally.

I am a Christian and happen to have two girls from China staying with me right now. I'm guessing that's a little more than 30 miles.

Just so you know...what you see in the news or in movies or on tv isn't really the real America. It's called make believe...fiction...fantasy...pretend. We don't entertain ourselves with murder, we don't even watch tv in our house. I'm sure you live in some country that is upset with us because of our support of Israel...

Rest of world perspective: They are seen as very deluded, often aggressively so; their beliefs are bound up with a culture that sees themselves as the 'essence' of America, while elsewhere they are perceived as the opposite. To many, America represents progress, dynamism, endeavour, innovation, excitement! It is IGY, a brave new world, a future so bright - gotta wear shades! It is common decency, understanding, compassion. It is genuine, honest and rational. It is the source and inspiration of so much positivity and good ideas. It is confident optimism. However, there is a phrase: "everything you have heard about America is true, and so is the opposite". It is a big diverse country, so opposites certainly do exist. Many evangelical fundamentalist individuals can be decent, upstanding people, who can be loyal, patriotic and friendly on an individual level. However, as a group, they are seen as being a bit backward, absolutist, aggressive and intolerant. They often only see the world through blinkered eyes, and perceive it to be full of threats and enemies instead of friends and opportunities. They latch onto outdated beliefs, and maintain them aggressively, quick to label anyone who disagrees as 'unpatriotic', 'immoral' or even 'liberal' (the last often a compliment elsewhere). They hold certain strong beliefs, and are intolerant to any alternatives. They are insecure pessimists. They resemble the kind of people that dominated the old, bad Europe, that modern Europeans have been successfully evolving away from. They seem to be at odds with many of the founding ideals of the USA; of justice, liberty, progress, accountability and freedom. They more represent the unaccountable, harsh, uncaring rulers that caused the 1776 rebellion in the first place. They represent the North American equivalent of the old Afrikaaner 'laager mentality'. They are not pro-freedom. Don't get me wrong, the USA is a beacon in so many ways, and is understandably a land of opportunity that many people strive to attain. However, it is not the attitudes of the fundamentalists that attracts them, but which more represents the attitudes that they are striving to escape. Every country has its equivalents. Conversely, it is the bright, progressive optimists and their ways that attract them to the USA. I stress that by no means all fundamentalists can be described thus, but there is certainly a distinct 'group' that can be so identified.

Arrogance.

Americans break the law all the time and don't get punished, but if someone does a wrong thing to Americans he is considered a terrorist.

For example,
The group of Americans in Iraq who raped the 16 years old girl and burned her with her whole family, what happened to them?? They are still trying to bribe the Iraqis family with 100k$!!!

America is the ONLY country in the world who ever used Weapons of Mass Destruction, but yet, they are trying to dis arms everyone else while still developing their own WMD and supplying other countries like Israel!!!

America supplied Israel with WMD in the last war in Lebanon 2006, but Syria and Iran are considered terrorist for supplying Lebanon with Weapons!!!

Bush always sings the songs of Freedom and Democracy, but then when Hamas won the Election, they were denied, why because Isreal doesn't like them, therefore the US doesn't.

But there are also some uninformed and ignorant athiests. Dont be so steriotypical. God Bless!

Well I am going to assume you are not American.. If you are then please leave.. If you don't like where you live then go live somewhere else.. i don't care what religion someone is.. what you are saying is just Anti- American and not anti-Christian....If you are from somewhere else then that's great congrats.. stay out of my country and spread your hate elsewhere... Our men and women may be "a fumbling mass of badly trained socio-economic cannon fodder." But they volunteer and die for us so that we can make stupid statements like that... If you are so into warfare then you train them...most of them enlist and get shipped out so quickly what else can you expect...I don't see the whole world looking to upset when we are giving them money or freeing them from Communistic Regime or killing Sadam Hussein...

"America is but a pup compared to the rest of the world"

News Flash: No one lives past about 100. No one in "the rest of the world" is any older than Americans, generally.
