Alcohol is a depressant

2007-07-30 00:42:55 · answer #1 · answered by ? 4 · 1 0

Actually it's natural. Not only acohol but most narcotics do the same. They first make you feel all jumpy and excited. Then this is followed by depression. Since it's known that they were happy and excited because of alcohol or drugs they go back to it to get out of depression, and this ends in a vicious cycle leading to addiction.

In short, it's natural. Although it's my advice that you quit drinking... Anything bad once known, should not be taken in even small quantities. We never know when it grows big.

Alcohol IS a depressant as odd as it may seem, the most non depressive is GIN and the worst is BRANDY so that story with the dog and A Brandy barrel is not a very good one, but if it is a problem to you then do as the others have said get help or stop drinking.

Well drinking alcohol is a depressed for most people, so maybe you need not to be drinking if it has that effect on you. Plus i really don;t think that you want another problem in your life. And drinking alcohol does not make your problems goi away. You really need to fine a more healthy coping skill for the things that are bothering you, even if you don;t know that something is bothering you.

As Daniel says, you have taken a depressant drug. Another effect is a headache which is caused by alcohol dehydrating the brain. Alcohol has other harmful effects and anyone who drinks enough to get drunk, as well as making themselves the subject of ridicule, is creating problems for themselves later in life.

Yes, don't drink too much, and if you do try and drink lots of water it will help. Alchohol is a stimulant, like coffee, so you feel happy for a bit, then comes the dawn and the rush has gone leaving you down. Im sure there's a better medical explanation out there.

Getting drunk has spiritual effects. That is why you feel depressed. It's a damper on your soul. The bible warns us about drunkenness.....exhorting us to stay sober and worship God.

Inebriation is like opening a door for Satan to come in and destroy you. He tempts you with addiction, lust, fatalism, and of course depression. If you're in a place where you can easily shut that door, I would suggest doing it. Then turn your life to Christ, and you will feel a peace and joy that alcohol can NEVER give you. It was never meant to. Only your Father can make you feel joyful. God bless.

Its because alcohol is a depressant. Plus you are dehydrated and hung over. Now that you know that it makes you feel depressed the morning after, perhaps you should cut back on what you drink.
