I used Lamisil (the pill) every day for 3 full months (March-end of June) for my two big toes. I saw the infection clear up but the new nail has not started growing in yet and it's been a month since I've been off the pill. When I went to the podiatrist about a month ago for a check up, he looked at them and said the medication was working. But how much longer do I have to wait to see the new nails start to grow in again?

It takes about 8 months for a new toenail to grow in. Our toenails grow very, very slowly (even though when you trim them it doesn't seem that way). How fast you actually see the new nail will depend on how fast your nail grows in. Watch the area at the bottom of the nail as you will see the new growth there first. However, you may start noticing also a thinning of the nail (rather than the thick nail it became with the fungus) before you even see the new growth.

I'm glad you are having luck with the medication! I took 3 courses of 3 months (9 months total) and it didn't work for me. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for everyone.
