i have read lots of books about it and about prophet. i want to be a good practicing muslim. pls, pls tell me how can i start and what can i do.
i am very confused. needs your sugession seriously.

I'd suggest you make it an informed decision and read the Bible as well . Compare ideologies and see which one is more consistent .
And make sure you even know Islam right now . For example . . . do you know that Islam teaches that a dog(especially a white dog) is a higher life form than a woman . Then ask if you think any God would make dogs higher life-forms than women . Then ask , if we go to heaven as a spirit , then how does Islam promise physical virgins , and 72 of them while we're at it . Compare all the teachings and try to find even one that coincides any logic or consistency with gaining 72 virgins .
I've told you enough . You're either gonna check for yourself or choose to be blind .
Which one are you . . . the blind one or the one with eyes that 'see' ?

My suggestion is to go to a Mosque, and anyone there will be more than willing to help you. Talk to an imam at your nearest mosque. www.islamicfinder.com will help you locate it.
But, like Ahmed A said, this is a serious thing, so do go on all the websites that you can, and if you have any doubts, talk to the imam about what is true and what is not.

I'm a Christian living in Lebanon, a 65 % Muslim country. That's why I know a lot about Islam.
If you decided to explore Islam, because you think its something new and exiting, I would be sure that you haven't read the Bible.
You know, I would read the Quran if I had time.
So I tell you, If you haven't read the bible, you should before reading anything else.

Reject the God that was worshiped before Muhammad and believe only Muhammad and no other prophet and no previous word of God. Believe that God is so powerless that he allowed man to corrupt his word and make a liar out of him. believe that a sinful man can still earn his salvation.
Believe that God misleads people as Allah says he does.
Believe that God makes people believe lies like the aotnment then sends no revealtion contrary for 600 years.
Believe that God speaks all of his truth through one sinful man.
Believe if any word comes form God it must be apporved by this same sinful man.
Believe a prophet of God can disagree with the prophets of God and the word of God and still be a prophet of God.
believe that Jesus and Isaiah and Moses and Abraham are all liars and tha only Muhammad is true.
Believe the only uncorrupt scripture and word of God came only form Muhammad.

watch the above movie, go to all the anti-Islamic websites.
Make notes, then go to the mosque and ask if these accusations are real.
If you find them to be real, then there is no reason to be a Muslim.
If you find them to be false, then convert to Islam.
