And if they think gays shouldn't ever act on their biology, how is that not homophobic?

My Oxford American College Dictionary says homophobia is "prejudiced against homosexual individuals."

Wow. If some of you continue to defend your extremely bigoted beliefs with misinformation, you have no right to complain when someone look as you and tells you you're an idiot.

Homosexuality and pedophilia are not comparable. Pedophilia is an illness that is centered around control. It has nothing to do with sexual gratification. It is more comparable to rape than homosexuality.

For the most part, homosexuals are not interested in controlling each other and hurting each other. They are simply interested in having a relationship that features anal sexual intercourse. And if you haven't noticed, straight folk do that too.

You can hide behind your Bible all you want, but you cannot look a homosexual in the face and compare them to a pedophile without someone calling you a) uneducated, and b) a bigot.

As for the question, many Christians clearly don't want anyone in the privacy of their own bedrooms sticking their penises into any unapproved orifice. That's just as bad as murder, you know. They could care less about how people feel about who they are. They don't care about other people's happiness. All they want is to tell people what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. And EVERYONE has to follow their "rules" despite the fact that their own god hasn't presented itself to confirm that they are "right."

Bunch of bigoted, self-righteous jerks answered this question. You people disappoint me. If god does exist, he'll look at you and ask you, "Did you forget that whole 'love thy neighbor' thing?"

Welcome to the fantasy world of religious 'values' where a collection of ancient myths is supposed to be your guide to sexuality. A guide that they don't even expect themselves to fully live up to because they are 'forgiven' so long as their heterosexual....no, nothing homophobic there. You'll note the answers range from the they-should-live-as-a-straight-person to the just-go-back-to-hiding. Although I got a laugh out of the there are "no gays here in" South Africa thing--where in some areas 1 in 8 people are HIV positive (but I'm sure HIV is still the gays faults there too)--because women need 'resources'. Yes, Craig go on telling yourself that. There is one simple fact that Christians never acknowledge homosexuals were around long before the idea of religion and we'll still be here long after it has finally been retired to the dust bin of history where it belongs. At least then, anyone who tries to legislate away our happiness can't claim they're doing to satisfy their invisible sky god. Such an inflated sense of self-entitlement, religion, seems to breed selfishness.

I am far from prejudice against homosexual individuals.. I love them... however I believe the actual act of homosexuality is a sin.... I do not believe that you can necessarily be "cured" (for lack of a better term) but that you can resist the impulses...I do not think homosexuality is a sin that is worse than any other sin, because it says clearly in the Bible that it is just that a sin.. along with many other things, no where does it say that we are to condemn or judge those who are involved in that lifestyle....or any other sinner for that matter. Hate the sin not the sinner.
This is a tough issue for me, because morally I think it is wrong.. but I know that there are many happy, healthy gay couples who have been together for so long.. that marriage only seems the next step.. but it goes against my religious beliefs..

I know, I empathize with the gays. I wish I had the answer. I wonder about that too.
It's a hard situation. Is it not possible to give it a try towards the opposite sex to make a go of it I wonder, some kind of sacrifice, settle for a little less then desired. I think to myself, if I were gay, could I make myself go with the opposite sex, it probably would feel icky to begin with, but I think I would make the adaptation if I had to.

Maybe this site has some answers.

If anyone else like stuartah2000 suggest being gay is a choice they should be locked up for all eternity - how on earth could it be a choice to expose yourself to such blatant homophobia.

And yes, the answer is that they expect gay people to have no family life, no love, no companionship, no normal relationships, no notmal social exposure, no partner support, no-one to spend their life with, no-one to grow old with...

The word homophobia hardly does them justice - its positively a crime against humanity. God or no god, such attitudes degrade religion and drag it through the gutter of human rights abuse (once again).

All Christians should love everyone like Jesus loves us - no matter the sin. Being gay is a sin just like being an alcoholic is a sin. It's a way of life that is sinful that the Bible is very very clear about. It's detestable in God's eyes. If these people would give their feelings to God and let Him deal with them, things would be different. I've known several people who have claimed to be gay, yet once they have a relationship with Christ realize how wrong they were. It's all about believing a lie that the world tells us - "accept who you are. It's okay to act on your feelings." It's weird how society is so open to things like homosexuality, that the Bible is clearly against, yet they condemn murderers, which the Bible also says is wrong.

As far as I know, Christianity does not approve of acts of homosexuality (the key word being "acts"). Ummm, I guess it could be considered homophobic (it would depend on the person obviously on how much of a stretch is needed to make the term fit), though I mostly associate that term with a fear of homosexuals, but it does also mean a contempt for them.

They think gays should force themselves to be straight, get married and be faithful to their spouse. But they also have a lot of restrictions on what is decent between spouses, so personally, I say forget trying to live up to the Christian ideal of sexuality. It will only make you neurotic.

It would seem that the Xians oppose all the real fun stuff. But, I digress, this is another example of the untenability of these types of belief structures. They deny the reality of real life. I stay away from that stuff as it isn't real.

Dude, I'm sorry, I just can't feel bad for "the plight of the gays". Who gives a ****. **** off, we got better things to worry about in this country.

But as far as the biological aspect of it. Let me just clarify because I deal in evolutionary genetics for my career. Homosexuality as a practice is something entirely social. I KNOW I KNOW! "But craaaiiig! It's geeenntiicaall!" genetical isn't a word. There is absolutely no way in hell that a "gay gene" could ever persist in any population of animals, ever. Any gene that explicity states "DO NOT REPRODUCE WITH THE OPPOSITE SEX" will absolutely NOT be passed on to anybody.

Then I get this gay response: "But some gays still DO reproduce because they're under PRESSURE to be straight!!! CRAIIIG! C'MON! It's gentical!!" Again, no it ******* isn't. The prevalence of homosexuality, along with its geographical densities, indicate that it is an almost purely social phenomenon. There may be a gene that allows for homosexuality if in the proper social setting, but that's about it. You're going to find homosexuality in advanced civilizations in which women have grown to the point where they do not REQUIRE men in order to obtain resources. Men are no longer dominant to women in the way they are in our EEA (environment of evolutionary adaptedness). For instance, there are no ***** in the Hace of South America. Nor are there any in the hunter gatherer tribes of central Africa. Why? because men still rule there.

So then I get this bullshit: "Well they're probably still gay, they just can't be gay or they'd be social outcasts." No, they ******* aren't. Don't try to accredit gayness by making everyone else a gay.

daaah! okay. I hate the gay debate. It just needs to go away. Leave me alone *****!

sorry to my friends dave and joseph, you're still awesome even though you guys are flamin' homos.
