I Have lot Of CASH in Dollars, How do I take It (or Smuggle it) Across Border, Airport customs question?

Hey People, Ive Applied and got Admission In an University In UK. Now the problem is that, i got Lots and lots Of cash In US dollars $$$$$ (lke even more), But the University ask for it in Pounds.

Airport Customs Allow me to Take $2500 outside my Country, The rest I'll Have to Change It into Local Currency (Indian Rupees) and then Wire Transfer it Into the Bank Account of the University, During this Wire Transfer, the Local currency Gets Changed into Pounds. So In other Words, In loosing Out twice because of Changing Currency. Gosh I dont want to do this, cauz the Losses will be big.

SOOOO I want some one to tell me he to Handle this situation, Is there any other way I can take US dollars Out of India and change into Pounds in the UK. Can I smuggle it ? hehehe :D Help !

I DONT WANT TO CHANGE the dollars into local currency (Indian Rupees) and then to POUNDS. Dont you ppl Understand that there will be great losses when you convert Money Like this. Specially when Dollar is falling every day Here. GRRR >_<

EVEN IF I send a Cheque of Draft, Wire transfer or any dam way, To diposite The Dollars into a Bank will automaticaly CHANGE DOLLARS into RUPEES And then If I send if Out side, they will get converted into POUNDS from RUPEES. SO THERE ARE Losses ~~ Understand !!

You can either convert it into travelers Cheques in US dollars. A few pieces, of paper are easier to hide than bundles of cash. When you get to your destination, then you convert what ever amount you need into the local currency and keep the rest. Converting at need. OR you can simply put the money in an american bank with a checking account and when you get to your destination, write a check for what ever amounts to be drawn on that account. Simple, easy and you only have to use the amounts you need, no more, no less.

$10,000USD in $20 bills will set off the metal detectors at an airport. If you have a large sum, consider gold or silver brokers. Buy gold in your country. Pick the gold bullion up in America, sell the gold later. I have heard this is how fabulous sums get transferred this way to circumvent the cash transaction laws. If you get caught at the airport with the cash, it will be forfeited to the authorities and you will have to prove it is your legally earned money to get it back after paying a fine.

Its best to leave it a home in the Bank and withdraw it as you need ,with an ATM card, Or did you get the money through illegal channels and can not do that.

You deposit it in a bank account with a foreign bank and then withdraw it in whatever country you want. Try citibank, their fees are quite low.

The simplest is to deposit in a bank that has an affiliation with a bank in England. Then, when you get to England, you withdraw from your account in pounds.

You don't need to carry cash.
