I guess you are refering to a job offer made by Costco Wholesale.

I too had applied for a senior management position, which was advertised on the Internet through what claims to be a Canada based company whose details appear below:

Global Placement Services Inc.
Second Floor,14448- 118 Ave.,
Edmonton, Alberta -T5L 2M5, Canada

Interestingly, this offer was made through Ms. Irene McWilliams. Maybe pure coincidence the family names are somewhat similar???

I was sent forms to fill, scan and return by email. This morning I've recieved another set of forms and a job contract. The contract asks me to contact a lawyer called Ambrose G Williams in Harper Woods, MI.

My enquiries online with the Michigan Bar Association and Google drew blanks. However, somebody on Yahoo Answers appears to have asked a similar question, after being asked to pay US$800 for visa processing fees to Mr. Ambrose G Williams.

Hence, I have firm grounds to believe that this job offer is some scam to extort unsuspecting applicants of large sums of money.

I also checked on the Costco website, in the Careers section and there was no mention of the post for which I had applied.

If you are in the US or Canada, I strongly suggest you call Costco and verify that the job offer comes from them, since the emails allegedly are sent by their CFO, Richard Galanti.

Obviously, Mr. Galanti would know if he had sent those emails...which I doubt he did.

Michigan State Bar does not list an Ambrose Williams.

But there are 119 Williams who are members. And he might actually be licensed in another state, and just affiliating with a Michigan attorney.
