Oh yeah nothing like having a beagle stare at you. Most times I think its because he is curious with what I am doing and just watches. And there are times where I have woken up to a staring beagle but why he does that I am not sure but then I guess its fair since I stare or should say watch him sleep sometimes. Ida know really maybe your dog is just curious and/or is their way of showing you he cares. Dogs are curious creatures any ways. Have you ever tried a stare down with him? I have with my beagle and he either comes up to me and likes my face or barks at me.

Yes my Cocker Spaniel does do that. We all will be watching Tv and my husband will tell me the dog been staring at you for a while. It is like they zone out for a minute. He has a few strange behaviors I just add it to the rest of them.

lol yes I have a Maltese and a Yorkie...they both do it...it is a little freaky at times, but for the most part it is adorable for the little puppy dog eyes to be looking up at you =P but I think they are just sitting...staring waiting for you to go and play with them or feed them! Reminds me of little kids really...waiting on there mom or dad to get finished with whatever they are doing to take them to the park. ha ha I am getting carried away...good question I enjoyed answering it.

Our Maltese used to do this to me, like he was saying" that's my Dad",lol and he looked so proud when he did that (he's gone now).
One of our Yorkies also did the same when he was sick and I'd wrap him in his blanket and rock him on the front porch, kinda like saying thank you for knowing I'm sick and taking care of me.
Don't underestimate the feelings and emotions they can have, they seem very broad in what they can feel and think.
I think your dogs just saying he loves and admires you when he's doing that.

mine does this. I wake up sometimes and he is right next to the bed with his nose to mine or if he is laying down he will look up at me with his droopy puppy dog eyes. Sometimes I will wake up and he will be laying on his back with his head upside down looking up at me. I think it's cute as hell to because when I make eye contact his little nubby starts wagging.

My three mutts love to stare at me while I'm eating. They think nothing of begging until I give in to them.

lol He's just trying to communicate with you. Animals understand thought forms. When you talk to him use thought forms so he can understand you better. I do it all the time with my dogs. They can put thought forms in your mind, too. We can communicate with our furry buddies. Just gotta know how and it is so simple.

yes, yes, yes!!! too cute. if you stare back at them (or at least mine does this) they will start "talking" to you. growls, moans, barks, and of course, all the body language goes along with the noises. can't believe this bothers you! make a game of it. they love it!!!!!!!!!!!
