My boyfriend left for bootcamp today :( I just want to know how long until he can write a letter to me, and how often can he? I also want to know about phone calls, how often can he make a phone call and how long of one can he make?

He joined the marines, if that makes a difference also.

I went through Army Basic Training, and we were encouraged to write letters every chance we got. It increases morale and helps decrease some of the stress of the training. You just be sure that you send him as many letters as you have time to write yourself. Mail call is like Christmas in the military.

Good luck, and God bless.

You can send them as soon as he sends you the address. But expect to write him more than he writes you. By the end of the day, he will be so tired and probably won't have much time to sleep let alone write a letter.

Phone calls the same way, with all of the soldiers wanting to use the phones to call home and only having a certain amount of phones, the phone lines can get pretty long.

Good luck to him and you, if you two are planning on marrying this is a long road ahead of you as a military spouse. If you need to talk to anyone or need some info just email me. I have been married to an army man for 12 1/2 years and we are currently going through our 3rd deployment.

Take care and remember he will love to receive those letters. Letters are sometimes the only thing that keep these guys looking forward to the next day. Just write to him about almost anything. What you did that day, what you will do, how your friends and his friends are doing, how his family is doing, just basic stuff.

as soon as he gets there, and whenever he has time. But he won't have much time. And be prepared to have a new boyfriend when he gets out.

He doesn't need any distractions! He shouldn't communicate with you until he's finished with all his training!
