My parents told me that if i were to still be in college after my second year, they would buy me a car between 20,000 to 30,000. My question is what brand new car do you think a 20 year old should get?

Well, if you're going to be a college grad I'm assuming that you will want something professional, and there are a lot of options out there in your price range. I would recommend the upcoming 2008 Volkswagen Jetta TDI; it's a turbo diesel so it will get excellent fuel economy and produce lots of torque. Also, Volkswagen builds very good diesels that last for upwards of 300K miles and they retain their resale value quite well.
Other alternatives would be the Audi A3, a luxurious and versatile hatchback that is available in all-wheel drive; the upcoming 2008 BMW 128i which will be the most fun-to-drive car in this price range; the Toyota Camry which is America's best-selling sedan because of its reliability and comfortable ride; or the Hyundai Sonata which can be equipped with every option for under $30K and has a 10 year warranty.

DAMM ur lucky! 20-30$ dang! Well i am a VW FAN! I think there the best cars to get! They last for ever and VERY SAFE! Here is the truth, out of all the cars i have seen on tv news that was in accidents, VW's were way less smashed up than the rest, if any thing the cars just bent. Lets just say you more safer in a euro/ vw car. I ve had a 95 golf,96 gti, 97jetta and a 2003 passsat! There the best! If your parents are going to hook you up, hav them hook you up with a toureg! There hella nice even the new passats are nice! Plus if you like speed, there great cars to fix up and make faster, but do cost more for the after markets but again sooo nice, Check out euro mag!

Get one that's as cheap and old as possible. The monthly insurance payments for a 20-year-old will be several times higher for a new car than an old one.

Mustang GT convertible would be nice and right about at the top end of their price range.
