Wrong. Islam was in the Dark Ages. The Greek parchments it preserved were wiped clean of the many illustrations and drawings the Greeks intended their manuscripts on flora and fauna, anatomy, etc. to contain. But because of the Muslim superstition against art and drawing, nothing remained from Muslim censorship except the most abstract diagrams from geometry texts.
Besides, Islam could only fund science through the plunder of stealing the Levant (Palestine), North Africa, and parts of Europe from the Christians, carting all that gold away and forcing people to adopt Islam and speak Arabic. It resembles the scientific enterprises of Nazi Germany, also funded through conquest and plunder.
Today, the whole Arabic-speaking world only translates 330 foreign books a year into Arabic. By contrast, a Western country like Spain translates 16,750 foreign books a year into Spanish. (NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, October 2003.) Muslims are smug and think they need no outside knowledge outside the one Book, and can only talk about the intellectual glories in the PAST TENSE.
Plus, Muslims need a certain humility. The West already defeated them when the Ottoman Empire fell in 1918. At that time, the neck of nearly every Muslim except in remote Afghanistan was under the boot of a Western power! Much as it's not politically correct to be in favor of Colonialism, I'd say if we didn't relent the foot-pressure on Muslim necks, we would have gotten to preserve our New York skyscrapers and our London transit-system and Spanish trains from undue fanatical attacks...

You're correct that Europe was in the Dark Ages while Muslim countries intellectually flourished. That makes it so ironic is that European culture evolved out of the Dark Ages and became enlightened while Muslim countries have regressed from enlightenment back into the Dark Ages. They have the same thing to blame as Christian Europe did for their deliberate ignorance--fanatical religion.

Let's make a list of all the things Muslims didn't invent.
Several of those inventions predated the Muslim religion. Arabs and Egyptions invented a lot of things before Mohamad came along.

That much is true. Muslims kept the Greek and Roman traditions alive at the time Europe was overrun by barbarians and were in the dark ages.

So why don't you get them off their collective intellectual b*tts and move the extremists out of the Middle Ages and start bringing enlightment and invention instead of death into the world.

Please don't cite the BBC as a source. They have a poor record as of late and wikipedia is an amatuer written site. Anyone can post a definition or information there.
