I assume you mean the exercise where you hold your arms out straight by your body (making a T) and make increasingly larger circles with your arms forward and then backward. It's supposed to work your shoulders, biceps, and triceps.

It's when aliens come down from above and make circles on unsuspecting people's arms.

It's more common than you might think.

When you move your arms in a circle, like a propeller(sp?) of a helicopter . It's very literal.
