Well, I'll tell you.....
If I had to look at "Fried Bones" all day I just might do the same. I like the "get-up" but I don't think your cat appreciates it. That could be why all the crying.
Seriously (if you are) it's time for a visit to the vet. Your cat may have a problem you can't see (too many bandages). Sorry couldn't help it.
Get him a good check up. It could be any number of things. Is your cat neutered? If not that could be your answer. Other than that, I can't add any more into.

Maybe he's just "talkative". Some breeds are louder than others when it comes to meowing. Another factor is your reaction... when he meows, do you talk to him or pet him or pay attention to him (not that there's anything wrong with that)? When you respond to his meowing, it teaches him that that's the way you like to communicate - verbally.
He's also probably noticed that you aren't too quick to pick up on his non-verbal communication, which is primarily the way that cats communicate with each other. The position of a cat's tail alone can tell you alot about what they are thinking and feeling, but of course humans don't "get" that as much.... so, cats talk to them in a language they can understand, which is outloud!
Adult cats don't really meow at each other alot to communicate... kittens do meow alot, though. So, when a cat is meowing at a human... it's almost like they are using baby talk on us.

My cat starts squawking the minute I get my key in the door. I figure she's saying, hi, I'm glad you're home, where the hell were you, why were you away, give me food, blah, blah, blah. She also meows her fool head off when I'm fixing her canned food. She demands I fill a mug for her to drink from (use the CatIt fountain I bought that you used to love, dammit!). She meows when I'm on the phone, probably because she thinks I am talking to her. She meows when I'm getting myself a bowl of soy ice cream.
My talkative tabby cat is an American Shorthair, but I suspect a little Oriental mix in there because she's so vocal, and she's fairly thin.

Some cats just are more talkative than others. I have cats on both ends of the spectrum - one who meows all the time, especialy when talked to, and one who never meows, he just opens his mouth like he is going to. Both are happy, healthy cats. Cats have distinct personalities and meowing is part of that.

Sometimes my cat meows when she wants me to give her attention. She can have plenty of food and water, but still meows anyway. Try just sitting there and petting him and see if he stops...good luck!

i sympathize with you.
it's true that some cats are more vocal, but i'm always concerned that i'm doing the best for my cat.
it must be a bit nerve wracking.
i think attention is always the first order. give your cat attention and talk to it.
i tell mine, i wish i could understand you. i'd do for you whatever it was i knew you needed.
i'd say, talk to it a lot, pet it, tell it how much you love it.
now you know why i always say i'm most comfortable when my cats are asleep.
ok i admit it i don't have a good answer for you.

Mewing is a way for your cat to communicate. If you really listen, he/she has different tones, w/different body gestures..IE one ear back..or 2, etc. Depending on the cat, Siamese talk ALOT. Some cats need to socialize alot w thier humans, some don't. All different personalitys.
