There is no such thing as a good plan. To lose weight you need to cut your calories, eat smaller portions, eat 3 healthy meals a day with a healthy snack between each meal, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies, limit your snacks and burn up more calories than you take in.

Weight watchers is what worked for me but u need to go to meetings every week. So what I try now is a calorie diet staying under so many calories a day. And of course the dreaded excercise but get a friend to excerscise with u.

Michael Thurman's Six Week Body Makeover is one of the best and healthiest I've found. You analyze body type and adjust your meal and exercise needs accordingly. You typically lose about 30 pounds in six weeks. Pretty effective, and no bad side effects either.
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Michael Thurman or his Six Week Body Makeover plan in any way. I am presenting this answer as a consumer only, and not for any solicitation purposes whatsoever. (I have to write this, since Yahoo deleted my answer last time I mentioned this program.)

dont "choose" diet plan - stick to one because if you make only temporary changes you get only temporary results.
if you lose more than 2lbs a week its gona come back because you cant lose fat that fast -all you lose by depriving your body is water weight and muscle.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
