If illegals follow the US laws and return to their country, should
the US government overlook that they have destroyed someone else's Id by stealing it or that they have not paid into our tax system that they have been using? Should they be allowed to apply for citizenshiip after they pay back what was stolen by returning to their own country and paying back what they owe, including the fees to straighten out the stolen Ids that they used?

toocan, the illegals do not pay taxes. When the person with the real SS# files to pay, the IRS informs them that they owe more because of the extra income that they show as having been earned by not claimed on the tax form. The real SS# holder ends up paying the taxes and possible fines while fighting to clear up a lot of credit issues - all because some illegal didn't care what they did to others. If an illegal is undocumented, they have no way of paying taxes.

I think that anyone that has come here illegally should be deported and never be eligible for citizenship here. No amnesty, no 2nd chances on this one. Too many people with integrity we can bring in to even consider trying to assimilate criminals like this into our society. No way. The very least they could do is self deport and they don't deserve any awards for finally doing the right thing.

I think that those who self-deport should be allowed to be the first in line behind the others who have been waiting to come in legally. The ones who have to be deported, or rather forced to leave by law enforcement agencies should not have another chance at all.

No. Self-deporting is another way of saying La Migra is getting too close!

right or wrong they can and they better hurry because as the song says 'the times they are a changing' and the closer we get to election '08 the more immigration will become important because all those candidates are running polls. a illegal who is married to a legal citizen can apply for citizenship here but will at one point have to go back to their home country to wait for their green card and work visa, once they have that they can come back here and continue the immigration process without punishment. and yes, its surprising that an illegal can legally marry a legal citizen and most states allow this, they do not have to show any i.d..

there would be no way of knowing that they were even in the country in the first place

much less have stolen an id or not paid taxes

and since the government would have no record, they would have to just be treated as a normal immigrant trying to get into the country legally

No. If they had no respect for our country to begin with, they'll still have none if they reapply. There are millions of people who have high ideals and morals and values waiting to become Americans. I'd say they are much more deserving.

I wont get into my big feelings on this subject but how I mostly feel is if they break the law and come into our country there should be jail time served then deported

Maybe, but not for a long, long time. I don't think there's a shortage of people trying to become citizens of the US.

if they are using someone elses id and social then they are having taxes withheld. at the end of the year, instead of getting the refund they would have gotten they just let the govet keep it. not that it's right, but your premise is faulty, ¿no? anyway, there is an approximate 15 year waiting list for mexicans.
