The red dress if floor length, spaghetti straps, with a slit to the knee, and has floral appliques with slight beading. It's gorgeus. I don't know the bride at all, but it'll be a huge reception, at a country club.

The only etiquette that applies to the color of a guest's dress at a wedding is wearing white. Women guests shouldn't wear white to a wedding, and in some parts of the country, black is considered inappropriate (but even Miss Manners now says it's OK). So, red is prefectly acceptable to wear to a wedding.

If your partner is wearing black tie then you can wear a formal dress but I would suggest that a red frock will upstage the bride or the bride's mother, both of which are no-noes.

I think that it would be a faux pas. Simply because red is such an attention getter. (Too bad, it does sounds like a nice dress). You might be able to get away with it if the wedding colors include red.

We had a question like this before. Red attracts people, so all eyes will be on you. The point of a wedding is for the attion to be on the bride. Its not okay.

Definately! If it is black tie that means formal and the dress sounds absolutely beautiful. Go for it and enjoy!
