In many Western Countries, polygamy is illegal. However, God commands that if a man dies without a son, that his brother will marry his widow and have children in his name and they will be the deceased mans heirs. This is commanded and it doesn't matter if the brother is already married or not. Would you obey God or your country?

Pastor, please read the Bible more. Jesus obeyed the Law (was sinless, because breaking the Law is sin) and Christians are to follow His example by keeping the Commandments right?

Pastor, you are reading from the NIV translation which should stand for Non Inspired Version...You should take that and throw it away...here is a better translation in the New American Standard Version although it's not translated perfectly either, but its a lot better than the NIV.
13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
This is a lot different than the NIV translation..just get back to the Greek.

God's Law is the 10 Commandments. Mosaic Law was the Law for the Jewish people.
We are to maintain God's laws, including the remembrance of the Sabbath.
When Moses instructed a man to take his dead brother's wife into his household, it was totally a cultural thing. A woman couldn't survive without a man in that day and age, and there were far more women than successful men.
God didn't create a man and multiple women to be his help-meets. He created man and one woman to be his help-meet. That was His plan from the beginning.
Every case of polygamy in the Bible caused a problem somewhere, somehow.

This is a very familiar system to me. People still do follow these laws in the world, often right here in North America. I once almost married a deceased mate's brother but we decided against it for a few other reasons. And he was already married, but that is fine, I have no problem with this.
The thing is, this is done also as a system to protect women who have lost their protector. Denying a "sister" protection is nothing short of selfish, and goes against the laws of several religions. I know... I have been denied by a sister before and know what I speak of.

i style of do, i think of there is too massive of a great gamble for one to fell jealousor exceeded over. there's a great danger of somebody being introduced into it via no longer having the flexibility to permit circulate and in basic terms staying with somebody despite if there a million of three. yet im guessing your asking "are there any adult men against it" simply by fact it continually seems to be one guy and a pair of females, i admire the belief of two adult men and a million woman in basic terms the comparable. i do think of if human beings going right into a polygamy relationship are going into it with the properly suited intentions like 2 bisexuals and a strait individual of the different intercourse who love one yet another equaly, then its no longer a nasty subject. specific polygamy in islam is especially plenty all undesirable yet nonetheless maximum of two individual relationships are incorrect in islam.

I would obey my own heart and conscience. They tell me that polygamy is wrong for me and too easy for the person with multiple spouses. The person who's married to more than one spouse hasn't made any real committment at all.

That law has been cancelled by Jesus.
So it would be sin to follow it.
See Colossians 2:
13When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
What part of "canceled the written code, with its regulations" don't you understand?

My ex had a brother. He's divorced now, too. So, I guess I don't have to marry him. It would have been the same thing anyway, as she divorced him for the same reasons I divorced his brother.
The man I'm with now has no siblings.
I guess that's a blessing, huh?

Most Christians are 'Gentiles' and are not required to follow ancient Jewish laws, even if it is written in the Old Testament.

(she's my sister-in-law and i love her insofar as she's a member of the family, but damn... i got my own family to take care of... maybe my sister will marry her instead.... DOH!
