I have tickets to a Broadway play for Saturday evening. My tickets are for the orchestra, which I have been told is very good seating.

What should I wear? I always thought the better the seats the more formal your attire must be. Can someone help me out?

I would really prefer those that have been to or frequent Broadway.

I visit the City a few times a year, but I rarely attend shows.

Depends on the show you're going to see. For example, if you watch hairspray, casual wear is fine. On the contrary, if you watch a show with more class such as cats or phantom of the opera, you should be more formal. People tend to dress well attending these shows and you don't want to be pointed out.

I've been to many, many Broadway shows on a Saturday night. The folks where a huge range of clothing -- I've seen men and women in jeans and teenage girls in prom dresses. It's really the gamut, so you won't look out of place regardless of what you wear. That said, a nice dress, suit, or pant suit -- maybe a little dressier or festive than you'd wear to work or school -- is always appropriate. And it will make the evening feel even more special for you.

I generally dress fairly nicely for any sort of play. I've never been to Broadway, but you usually can't go wrong with the classic little black dress.

Dress as though you are going to a modestly priced restaurant.
