Unfortunately I have already heard this statistic. It is also unfortunate that many of these military gang members are minorities. I say I'm not racist but I'm finding it harder and harder not to be. It seems like all the gang problems and much of the crime is caused by these people. I say we bring back military executions. If they pull some crap involving a gang, hang him in front of the other troops and I'm sure that you'll see a decrease in gang members.

I served with a couple 'gang-bangers' when I was in. Both of them were in the Army as a way out of the life they had left. One was a great guy, the other was a bit of a jerk, but they were soldiers first and foremost.
Only a small part of what is learned in the military is applicable to gang warfare. Even if the former gang members were to go "back to the block", they wouldn't have enough of the 'tools' to mount a military style assault on much of anything.

Goodness ME I knew that name sounded familiar! I remember seeing AFN news reports in '05 and '06 about his murder, and there was a $25,000 - $50,000 reward to anyone who had information that lead to the arrests.
Some black and Hispanic men and women do not diminish their affiliations with the gangs that they're in; they bring it with them and look for recruits. (Not trying to be racist, but it's more common with the minority groups.)
Now... How are we going to successfully protect and defend the United States of American and the Constitution when we have service members participating in gangs? Having military members in such gangs is absolutely NOT a good thing. Being in a gang to begin with isn't a pleasant thing, and you might as well classify them as terrorists. It's bad enough right now that we have to go to another country to fight terrorists, we shouldn't have to fight terrorists within our own military and on the homefront
That is one thing, we should not have to do.

Leave it to CBS spews to find some obscure problem and use it to defame our soldiers - despicable. Sure there are soldiers in street gangs, soldiers who do drugs, soldiers who engage in homosexual acts. It's fun to point out the exception to the rule. Don't believe this far left America-hater propaganda. You can wear a uniform, but can't be a "soldier" if you a criminal.

Well its natural that a high proportion of poorer, rougher people would be the ones to join a military organization. A high percentage of conscrips have always been poorer classes. Vietnam for instance showed a lot of political favortism. Do you expect a lot of rich subarbun daddys paying for school to be the backbone of our armys. Country boys, gang bangers and immigrants are natural to this stuff, if we had mommas boys over there do u think we could kick *** like this?

This could be a good thing. Just convince gang members in the military that the other side actually belongs to another gang!
On the other hand, they might be so busy doing those gang hand signals that they get shot up or blown up.

Man are you serious. You need to go into the city and see a street gang for yourself and then see if the military needs to train these thugs how to kill better. The gangs now control the cities and you want them trained in gorilla warfare ARE YOU NUTS.
