A parent can protect their child. A parent can stop their toddler from entering the kitchen alone, where they may be burnt by the flame of the stove. Any good parent would protect their child this way.

However, it's been said that we are all God's children. God, at his level of power, could certainly stop murder, violence, pain, etc. But he does not.

Now, if a child were to enter the kitchen, and the parent were to sit on the couch, watching through the doorway as their child places his curious fingers within the flame of the stove, the parent is considered a bad mother or father; people and society would despise them.

But when God sits by, in Heaven, and watches as murder, violence, pain, etc., occurs, we praise him, and preach his name.

What makes the biological parent a bad person for not protecting their child, and the religious parent (God) worthy of great praise?

For those of you that have taken it upon yourselves to inform me that "God does exist," I have not openly denied it. I simply implied that I wanted the answers to come from the perspective of those that believe in God.

Although, for the record, I am primarily atheist.

I guess we're just like an ant farm and if he stops that kind of behavior it could ruin the whole environment we set up, we are God's ant farm so he probably doesn't care that much, people will say it's because of our free will that God doesn't interfere but our will doesn't involve getting murdered or robbed or beaten, some people were born poor and couldn't do anything about that so does our will have anything to do with starving? when someone has a birth defect wouldn't God do something to even it out and make their life a little better?

When the parents are no where in site at all, would the child still put his fingers in the flames at a future date/time?
You can stop a child from doing that, but does that stop the child from doing it later or doing something even worse later?
You stopped a child from burning a finger now, yet the same child later burns his entire body? If the child knew what the fire actually felt like with just the burnt finger, then that child will have a better idea of why he shouldn't let the whole body burn.
Like wise with people. God knows exactly how and why you think the way you do. God allows the suffering so that all shall learn not to blaspheme.
Why lose the real you for eternity, while you can just let the suit experience the suffering and eternity lost, while you survive and learn to live a much better life eternity, that you'll really appreciate.
Why did Jesus Christ suffer the way he did and didn't do anything to prevent it? Because he knew what heaven is actually like and what's waiting him there.
You focus on the things you see, the material world, but the real world is the spiritual world.
Think of the way the people behave on the earth. Would you care to allow the people into your home, just to demolish it? Why would God allow you destructive people into his Kingdom just to destroy it?
It sometimes amazes me how the people says, "why me, me ,me".
Yet, like God said, "You liars, how can you say you love God, yet despise your own brother". "Especially when you don't even know God".
By the way, God actually does exist. I know that to be a fact.

Never ever does it say that we are all God's children. There are those who believe in Jesus Christ, they are God's children; and those that do not, who are not His children.

It is important that you do not try to construct what the Bible says by what you hear from random sources. Some of us know what we are talking about, others don't have a clue, and we all can make mistakes as to what it says.

So if you want to talk about the Christian God, as far as I know, there is nothing that God has said that included everybody as being His children.

As to all those other things which are considered bad things, God has set a time when He will stop looking for new people who believe. He will change things according to what He said in the Bible as in the Great Tribulation. Things will get so bad that people will have to make a life or death decision. They REALLY won't know if they will be able to live from one minute to the next. There will be a lot of violence and pain from things the never had to deal with before.

He is going to do that just so people make a decision, He offers them grace, and they reject it daily.

Maybe we are missing something. Maybe death is not so bad, the pain is of Earth only. Once you die you are relieved of all the pain that this world presents, only the ones still here live in it but it is so your memory does not fade. We are capable beings that God made. People do not want to be responsible for their actions, they always point the finger. Well it was not God that makes humans kill each other, it is not God that makes us hate, steal, cheat, lie, and whatever sin you can think of. He gave us brains, we can think. I think it is dumb to look at things that way, keep looking at it that way and you will always be wondering about what happened instead of facing reality. There are simply a different set of laws that control this physical universe. God has set the rules of the game and the game is to be played by them. Yes, he is watching, but rules are rules and he can not interfere.

OK yes,God will stop you from doing something bad and I can assure you that many people will start saying "oh what kind of loving God takes my free will","God doesen't trust us so He has to force us to do what He wants","God never gave me a chance to prove my worth",and people will say that this is man is only good because God forces him.I mean why aren't you responsible for your acts, why aren't thease murderers, criminals and etc prove that they can behave themselves?isn't your freewill by the way? What's the point of God creating us if He controls us the way He wants?Remember a man will only prove his worth when he does a deed with his pure sincerity and by hiw own will, this is our chance to prove are real worth and many of the people are blowing it away.

hmmm. good question, but 1st off, those are two different situations, a toddler has no idea that the flame will burn him, everything in life is based around choice. the toddler cannot choose which is right and which is wrong, but we have the man power to know what is going on, therefore we sometimes make wrong decisions which lead to wrong outcomings. now i know ur gonna say that sometimes stuff happens and it wasnt our choice "wrong place at the wrong time" but things like that happen for a reason, just like everything in this world does. so whatever the reason (whether good or bad) it depends on the situation.

We have free will and can choose the bad things. Sin entered the world and we have all had to pay for the mistakes in the beginning. Every bad things that happens to me that prayer brings me out of is a way to praise God's name. Read Job.

we chose the path that we walk and learn from the damgers we encounter
so like any parent we are nurtured to learn as much as we need to develop our souls through suffering and strife
the lord doesnot want to break that soul but it needs to be strong to reach and stay and help him in heaven

My Dear Friend....
So you say GOD sits and watches as all these bad things happen...right?...
Ok lets see....
1. One day on a road you pass by an old homeless man who reaches out to you and asks for help....will you take him to a restaurant or where ever to feed him?...Do please be honest....

2. You see a neighbour in need for some financial help....will you fork-out couple grand from your savings?

3. You see on the side street some comotion that may lead to some serious harm to one...Will you step in to help?

My friend...thats why GOD placed you here to help them when HE prompts you heart. Have you ever felt...deep in your heart that "I should have said/done something"

It is the choice of people to sit by and do nothing...and blame GOD that why HE hasn't taken any action...Well HE prompted one's heart to do something, yet one refuses to listen, sayin' "That is none of my business"

It is the choice of men to deny and refuse to listen. We are given a choice to obey HIS command or to deny. Which one are you....the denyin' one? or the listening one.

I am a total stranger to you and I am in serious need for some financial help....can you help me?

Now tell me what your heart said?....
