under the circumstances you are well within your rights to date her girlfriend.
however, in the normal course of events, you don't want to get involved with a friend of the girl friend.

honestly, i dont think its bad...its good that your moving on and it really shouldnt matter whether the person you like is your ex's friend or not, the only thing that should matter is that you like each other!
