My younger sister that is almost 20, met this guy and started meeting up with him and talking to him on the phone, they where kinda in a relationship. I didn't know about it until they split up for some reason.

They had a big argument, didn't want her to get back together with him. They saw each other on the weekend, spent a few hours together at a club.

Found out that he smokes, drinks, gambles. Also heard a rumor that he did drugs.

Would you allow her do date this guy - or try to break them up?
My parents do not know that she was kind of seeing someone. So I am not sure what to do.

Allow? What are you, her warden? She's going to date whomever she wants, and if you act like your going to bully her into breaking up with him, she just may get closer to him just to spite you. She's an adult and can make her own decisions. If she makes a bad one, then hopefully she will learn from it.

First talk to your sister about this guy and find out more information, it helps to hear the other side of the story rather than going by rumors. Second, if this guy really is a sleaze, make sure you can communicate with your sister and warn her to be careful, yes she is an adult but it always helps to have advice from others. Don't try to break them up as it will only distance you from your sister, you can't really choose whether or not to "allow" them to date b/c that is her choice. Your best bet is to talk with her. Hope it all turns out well.

How much danger do u think she's in? Sounds bad to me.
1st I'd sit her down for a heart to heart about him.Get some real facts not just hear, say so u can convince her.If she's bent on being with him .U must get ur parents involved they can't inforce their will, on a 20yr old woman. Her respect for them and there principles, may do more than u may think. She'll resent what seems like meddling, unless you let her know it's all about love for her. Wish U the best.

And yet another one that is 22 and dated a 20 year outdated.. It somewhat does not make quite a number of a difference its in basic terms adulthood.. youthful adult men look extra exciting!

He doesn't sound a nice companion for a 20 year old. I would try and steer her away from him, quick smart. There are plenty of other healthier males around surely, that have a better lifestyle and a broader outlook on life.

It all depends... if the guy is an overall good person I would not mind...good morals, respects her, etc. But then again she is 20 and can decide for herself. But I see where you are coming from. I would talk to her, let her know how you feel.

if she's almost 20, she's an adult and can make her own decisions. i'm not saying she is doing the right thing here, but except for buying liquor, if shes over 18, she's legal to do what she pleases, with or without your approval, or that of your parents.

Talk to your sister. Explain to her that you feel she could do better. However, do not try to tell her what to do. Make sure she understands that you love her and you on her side. Take her to her favorite place or one that you can carry on a conversation about this subject.

I'm not my sisters keeper nor her parent. She's old enough to make her own decision and you are not old enough to stop her. BUT you could talk to her about it and tell her your concerns if you do it in a non judgmental way. You catch more bees with honey darlin.
