Okay, let's say for a minute, solely for the sake of argument, that we DID evolve from some lower form of life.
In regard to the Bible, let's say a "day" in God's terms may be a million years in our terms...so he creates the animals....then humans, from some lower life form, only millions of years later...
How does evolution destroy the idea of God? Is it not possible that if we did evolve from lower forms, that GOD initiated and oversaw evolution?

Note to Bula'ia....Ok, thanks for the response...I saw that on another question. You say we share some genetic material but "DID NOT COME FROM THEM" which brings up the missing link, which has ALWAYS been a problem for evolution.
Still, you have to agree that at SOME point there were humans...why could those humans not have been A&E?

Sorry dear, this is a HYPOTHETICAL question. How does that equate to manipulating facts? I'm talking about something that didn't happen in order to clarify how evolutionists see it.

Sorry, the all caps on the question were to sort of grab the attention of a certain group of people in order to garner answers. No offense meant. And you make a great point, thanks, but what percentage of evolutionists believe that God started it all? Haven't seen much of those guys on YA...but that's just me.

Evolution doesn't destroy the idea of god or anything else. It stands on it's own. Evolutionists do not claim that god does not exist. We simply see no evidence that he does. Likewise we don't claim that evolution is the answer to everything. It is still a science in progress. There is an abundance of evidence however to suggest that evolution is a plausible explanation of the ascension of the species. I do not accept your premise however that we evolved from a "lower life form". That would somehow suggest that humans are a superior life form. We're not. Just different.
You see, creationists are the only ones who claim to know how everything was created. The rest of us are still simply studying the evidence and that way we learn more about how it all happened every day. The faithful make the claim that god created it all. When you make a claim that something is true, you inherit the burden of proof. We can't prove evolution yet. But we're working on it. How bout you. Can you prove creationism?

I have never and I mean never believed in the idea of the creation of life based on mankind's concept. The greatest event in the universe took place and the best they can come up with to describe it is saying "Oh It Was The Big Bang!"
Now let's start asking questions:
1 If there was no gravity no solar winds what caused these so called magical gases that no one knows where they came from to move?
2 What was it that actually caused the ignition for this So Called Big Bang Theory To Take Place?
3 For something to be called scientific fact it has to able to be possible to be reproduced. Years ago I heard about scientist trying to duplicate the process of life by placing gases in a glass tank which they monitored for 50 years-(hey I know 50 years isn't long enough) they were convinced that there wasn't anything close to life developing in that tank no micro-organs, nothing.
To believe in evolution we have to assume that doing absolute nothing will automatically result in life as it exist today so that brings to mind more questions
Why this form for mankind-2 arms, 2 legs standing upright, why not 4 legs like a horse we could certainly more around faster?
What came out of the swap to make the form of a horse remember there were no blueprints of what creatures should look like so why these forms?

Nobody will argue with that. In fact if there is a Personality behind all this creation as a Primary Source and it is not just some accidental random behavior of existence then it would have to be a personality extremely ahead of us. And with that you have the whole of the argument. Some believe it was and some don't know that it wasn't. But to spend time looking for it may be a waste for some and others not. An example; In the movie Hidalgo... God made all men different. Colt made them equal. Was the gun not an eventuation of the same creative act as man was? So maybe God did create all men equal after all.

Well, I'll be. A christian who doesn't think that religiosity and evolution are mutually exclusive. Thank you.
I can't speak for all, but I never once said that it eliminated the idea of God, I'm just saying that if he, she, or it really is up there, this God figure left more evidence against humanity just popping up out of the sand than he did in favor of it.
This all will then lead to the arguments of "There were only two humans at first though!!" or "But God is all powerful and omnipotent, so why waste millions of years when he could just snap his fingers and it was done!!", which is probably why many aren't as open-minded as you are.

God simply said HE created us, and thats all we need to know WE did not evolve from another species . that never happens. things can change within a species over time, but they dont chnage into another species. A man stays a man, and a monkey stays a monkey, so on. God did not make evolution , it isnt real. Evolution does destroy the idea of God, as it says we are something other than made intelligently for our creator GOD. What God says settles it for us Chritians, and that all we need to know. We dont need mere supposition to enter in and take our time. Focus on what God says and all you need to know will come. amen

Evolution does not disprove God. It disproves literal Biblical Creation. The doctrine of Biblical literalism doesn't hold much water if page one is only allegory. The vehement response to evolution is merely there to defend the doctrine which keeps the followers under tight control.
Evolution does make God unnecessary, allowing an atheist / naturalistic world view to carry merit.

We evolved, we are still evolving. You and I are part of the evolutionary process. It is still continuing and will continue for millions of years, or until man destroys this planet. Is "Creationism" still an ongoing process? No. It all happened in a 24 hour period exactly 6000 years ago!! However, factually the earth is billions of years old, and we humans have been evolving for millions of years. We have facts, figures and evidence to back us up, you have a fairy story.

Dear heart, evolution does not concern itself with gods or any aspect of religion. It has to do with the origin of species, including...including but not only about...the evolution of the primates, of which human beings are merely one member of the family. You err when you introduce your religious beliefs into Darwin's research and the seemingly endless discoveries since Darwin. Anyone with a brain who has even one year of college would pity you. Ignorance is not a virtue, love. Do not celebrate it or display it for all to see.

That's a rationalization. There is still debate among religious scholars as to what a "day" refers to in Genesis.
I won't dismiss the idea that there was a god who guided evolution over billions of years. I will dismiss any pseudo scientific theory that dismisses the science of evolution.

Here's what's really funny about your question: it's what most atheists and most religions say too. Only the most ignorant fundies are creationists anymore.
Of course, I do understand, because evolution makes god(s) irrelevant. It doesn't prove there isn't one, it just takes away the claim that one is necessary to create life - one of the big selling points of religion until Darwin came along, and one reason the Deists weren't Atheists.
BTW, unless you're talking about a biologist that specializes in evolutionary work, the term "evolutionist" also makes you look ignorant - evolution is just science, not a religion, and those who accept evolution are not evolutionists, just normal people who understand science - it would be like calling those who accept gravity "gravitationists."
