Yes...i was a Witness for over 20 years...The damage that they did to my life was almost permanent...I was put in a situation by their theology that caused me to try to commit suicide....
Here is one of the examples of what I am talking about......25 years ago I was living in (sin)....I had written a letter to disassosciate myself from the JW's...(got disfellowshipped anyway)
I need to interject that I was raised in a JW family, and my father was is an elder (he violently sexually abused me for 10 years). He is still and Elder and a beloved Brother in good standing somewhere....
So I satill believed at this time in their Dogma....My Mother (a Witness) came to my house and started reading in Revilation, where soon God would pass judgement and I would suffer and die a horrable death...My son was about 18 months at the time. She also pointed out that all of the Children died during the flood because their parents did not make a choice to obey God.
I love my son..My mother gave me a choice...I could give my child to her to raise as a Jehovah's Witness, and thus save him form horrable death ( This I would do if I loved him) OR keep him with me and be selfish ...thus condemning him to die with me...
What a terrable position to put a new mother in...in my mind, I could not keep my child, but I loved him too much to give him over..
She gave me 2 choices..I figured out a 3rd option...About 3 days later i tried to take my own life.......I could not live with myself, and if I died, then My child would be raised properly, and I would not suffer any more.....So to answer your question, Yes this is mind manipulation and they are a cult.....
Witnesses follow me around Answers and wonder why I am so adamently opposed to their religion....Well...Raised by a beloved protected pedophile and abused emotionally and spiritually...go figure......You do not find this kind of manipulation and abuse in other faiths.

There is an awesome book "Crisis of conscience" Written by a man named Franz, who was a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses...It exposes the lies and fraud and manipulation of the WBTS.....Any JW reading this book would be disfellowshipped for just owning it..My question is ...who is trying to keep you blinded?
Morganmccaine...You missed their laws on blood transfusions, so I would answer yea to that one as well..

If you consider Jesus Christ a Cult Leader, then you can call them a Cult, However the Definition of a Cult is when a group of people follow a person other than the son of God. This means anyone who claims they are a go between or direct connection to God.
The World Book Encyclopedia explains that “traditionally, the term cult referred to any form of worship or ritual observance.” By that criterion, all religious organizations could be classified as cults. However, in general usage today, the word “cult” has a different meaning. The same encyclopedia notes that “since the mid-1900’s, publicity about cults has altered the meaning of the term. Today, the term is applied to groups that follow a living leader who promotes new and unorthodox doctrines and practices.” Endorsing the popular usage of the term, Newsweek magazine explains that cults “are normally small, fringe groups whose members derive their identity and purpose from a single, charismatic individual.” Similarly, Asiaweek magazine notes that “the term [cult] itself is vague, but it usually denotes a new religious creed built around a charismatic leader, who often proclaims himself to be the personification of God.

The yeses are at 80%. I think that they are a cult, but I don't believe that this is an inherently negative assessment. The positive and negative qualities are determined by the impact the cult's actions have on believers and non-believers.

Yes, they believe their "doctrine" is he ONLY one..., funny, Jesus died for the sins of the WORLD! They missed that one. It's THEIR interpretation of the Bible (you know they have their own from the WatchTower Society), and they know more of your business than YOU do, and they don't approve you visiting your family members who are not witnesses and they do a bang-up job on mind-washing! They don't even believe in heaven or hell.

It's Jehovah, and No we are not a cult but adhere firmly to the word of God. The Bible is in it's entirety the inspired word of God. Because of the apostasy that followed the death of the Apostles, everyone has been taught untruth through the centuries, now that God is using us to spread the truth in these last days, people blinded by Satan are launching forth all kinds of lies about us to keep people from the truth, it's all in the Bible.

It is a Fundamentalist group. Whether it is Christian or not is debatable. They do not believe Jesus Christ is God.
Fundamentalism is defined as “the practice of asserting the absolute truth of your own beliefs and practices to the deliberate exclusion of the possibility of truth in the beliefs and practices of others.” Based on this definition, one can conclude that Fundamentalism is nothing but bigotry and religious intolerance. Fundamentalism, of whatever shape of form, is a deadly poison in human relations – resulting in rancor, strife -- and in the extreme -- hatred, violence and genocide.
Who do you think is behind the war in Iraq?
Peace and blessings!
