I have noticed that aside from the usual rabble that insults anyone they can find, reasonable and respectfully worded questions tend to elicit reasonable and respectful responses. Skeptical dissent respectfully stated isn't attacked or mocked for the most part. On the other hand Christians are human. Somewhere around the 100th posting labeling all Christians as morons, fools, brainwashed or worse tends to bring out our less sophisticated and understanding side. While I recognize that this is simply creative and enthusiastic skeptical dissent, sometimes it seems a tad insulting to be called every kind of insult imaginable in the English language.
Your question is not insulting nor is it disrespectful and it makes a point. It even has a element of humor. Many do not and those don't receive the most mature response either.

Thank you and I do enjoy good dialog. The frustration for me comes when people are clearly just trying to push buttons.
The other side for me as a Christian no matter how much I try to defend my faith it will be intellectually impossible in the end, because at the heart of it is FAITH.
For the sake of making this a feel good party, I love you and so does God.
God Bless

Thank you for pointing out that some people lose their humor when talking about death. We really should make the government instigate laws for Wakes so some enjoyment could be legal.

Perhaps because some of the "skeptical dissent" is plain disrespectful? I don't know about other Christians, but the only skepticism I have a problem with is the disrespectful kind. And there's a LOT of it on here.

The whole "Why are atheists in the R&S" facade is getting old.
Diversity is a breath of fresh air, and I don't like air conditioning that much.

I think because to us it doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't go hang out in a atheist forum or a forum that is anti-God. If they are skeptical, why not go to another forum? Personally I think that they come here to learn more about God. Or maybe they just want to bash Christian beliefs.

I am grateful for other people's questions and answers. Because of the information I find on here I can then study it out for myself and learn more about the subject! It does me a great service! Thanks!

there is a line between skeptical dissent and hate speech. in R&S, that line gets crossed all too often.
it's one thing to pose a rhetorical question postulating the nonexistence of god. it's another to denegrate a specific groups beliefs in the process

If you present your argument intelligently that's one thing, but too often I find your (meaning non-believer's) postings to be nothing but self-righteous rhetoric.
