My parents used to smoke but they quit. My mom smoked while she was pregnate with me. I dont know if this matters or not.

Well, first, nobody can really know what your dreams mean for you except you, but I can offer a thought or two for you to consider regarding this dream.
In your dreams, it is rare when something you see is meant to be that item. Instead, it is a symbol for something else. Confusing, eh? I agree. Very.
Cigarette are a symbol for a harmful influence that is not necessary. Smoke is a symbol for, not surprising, lack of clarity or heated emotions. Is there something going on in your life that you fee uncertain about, that is causing you some anger or harsh feelings? Something which may not be necessary?
By the way, it is unlikely that you are dreaming of smoking because you want to but - just in case - let me encourage you to not start this horrific, addicting habit.

Yeah, your dream has to do with your earlier surroundins with your parents. It's called a "inherent" transfer. Even though you never smoked yourself, your mind still remembers the smell of smoking and the experience. As long as you have these memories and think about them from time to time, they will show up in your dreams. You have the physical experience of smelling the smoke and being around and that's why you see yourself smoking.

Yeah its probably something in your concious that is telling you something. I have had dreams not about smoking eventhough I have been. The dreams I have a about just weird stuff like from movie characters or something I have seen. All of them seem to be just scattered. Dreams may just come through a thought you had during the dream and stuck in your head in a certain part. But It is strange when it happens.

Maybe you have a hidden desire to smoke, so that comes out in your dreams. What your mother did during pregnancy should not have any effect on whether you smoke or not.

I don't think it does. But I've had dreams of smoking and no one close to me smokes.

I used to want to try a cigarette, but I do not smoke and I am not going to. I threw off reserve only in my dreams. There I knew I would not do harm))

smoking in dreams means you are dealing with some issues that make you depressed, mainly sadness. sorrry:)
