Is anyone familiar with Aperture Magazine? I just received an "invitation" in the mail, but it's over $10 per issue, so I'd appreciate any comments.

Thanks.

Thanks, Antoni. When I checked the website, I discovered that ANYONE can get the same "low, low" professional rate. Hey, I may as well get it as a "coffee table magazine" for my waiting room and it would be a business expense, right? It sure beats People Magazine and Popular Science... I don't like to put out Popular Photography, because it gives people all kinds of ideas for other ways to spend their money than fixing their teeth! (haha)

Hello Dr

I see this magazine here and there they are the type of magazine that you will see in a studio waiting room, or a Pro shop. its really great printing and quality.

has articles from international fotogs and images, might have an article about photoshop and technique also, its a quality mag - i know $10 is alot - a nice coffee table piece, maybe just buy one or goto the appeture website and see if its your thing, before doing a three year deal for subscription or something. (sorry had to put some humour in)

check out the web site, will give you a good idea the type of articles et cetera,

sorry i cant help better, keep up the good work

EDIT: a really nice waiting room deduction i would recomend it 100%, wow my Dentist only has Paparazi Mags! shots of some bimbo called Paris bending over to pick up a penny on a 800mm doubled and shot at 1600 iso from a block away.

Forgot about the nudes, if you live in a bible belt might be a worry? if you back order one, check out the listed articles, any talk about valleys and rises watch out! - no they are tame and actually great examples of use of light and technique,

Aperture magazine is a great mag.
A little pricey, but as Antoni said, it is high quality.
I'd be careful about putting it out, though.
They have been known to do alot of nudes, and for a Doctor's office you might get some bad feedback.

Hope this helps!

Hey Sam,
I've seen the magazine at book stores, but haven't had the cash or motivation to pick up one. (teacher's salary) The quality is excellent and, as you said, would make for great coffee table reading. Frankly I'd rather read equipment reviews and learn techniques that I can pass on.

I also visited the website and noticed how easy it is to get that 'special' price. Ah, the wonders of marketing...

I don't know the answer to that question, but try "superdork". Maybe this person can answer your question. If you can afford the magazine it. If its useless don't.
