I'm a 17 year old and this 14 year old boy from my church likes me ALOT. He's liked me since he was 12, but i REALLY would never date him then. Even though i'm 17, i'm about to start college and he is a freshman in high school. i know this makes it EVEN worse.
I like him as a friend, but sometimes i wonder if he thinks it's more. So, i need some help.
1. Should i even consider dating him?
2. IF not, how do i let him down easy?

I do like him to the point, IF he was my age i would date him because we get along great and we have alot of fun together. But i'm just scared of the age difference.

For the person who asked me,

The college i'm going to is in the SAME town i went to high school in, so i'll still see him at church every sunday and wednesday, but i'm still worried he won't get over me. He used to date girls, but all of them broke up with him after i met them and now he hasn't been dating anyone for a few months. Me on the other hand, i've been talking to a couple of guys. But i don't have a boyfriend yet.

At your ages there is a big difference in maturity between a college freshman and a h.s. freshman. He is just too young for you.Tell him you like him as a friend, but that is all.

Is your college some distance from your home town? Long-distance relationships are hard to maintain anyway -- especially with someone not old enough to drive a car.

Tell him you don't want the hassle. You just want to concentrate on college, and he should do the same with high school. If you both should find others to date, then that is just the way it is. He needs to accept reality and stop pining over something that isn't going to happen.

Forget it,what could you possibly have in common? He is a child. If you were 18 an had an affair with a 14 yr.old you would be a child molester. Its better for him to leave him alone. When you get in college do you want to tell your friends you date a 14 yr old kid? You will meet guys your own age and start to date.Make him sad now, don't break his heart later.

If you really like him, than you should risk it. If you don't like him then tell him you just want to be friends. However, sometimes age difference doesn't really matter. but remember you are going into college, you are much more mature. Hope it helps?!!!
