It may sound stupid but it will wort till you can get frontline, put salt on your cat (or dog for that matter). It kills the live fleas but is only a temp. fix because the eggs will still hatch.

You have a couple of options..If you won't buy Frontline or Advantage (which would be the best for the poor thing) then you can call a groomer and get a pill that makes the fleas drop off in no time.....it is about $12.00....BUT..if they are in your rugs or furniture you are not going to get rid of them that way. You can go into the woods and pick "Wax Myrtle" bush and bring it in your house and it will drive the fleas away..but do NOT let you cat eat any of it. But....Frontline and Advantage are the best thing to do. Once you have them under control you can control it. But to be a responsible pet owner fleas come with the territory. Treat them. Do not let the cat suffer.
Pets are NOT cheap...and need to be taken care of properly. You ought to just get the good stuff and get it over with.

Well, there's no instant treatment for fleas. Your best bet is to use Advantage once a month, and if your cat stays indoors and there are no other animals coming in and out, you should have 0 fleas in 2-3 months.

Cats arent like diapers that you throw away when they get dirty...getting rid of the cats should not be an option. Be a responsible pet owner, go out the store, buy some Revolution flea and tick preventative, buy some flea bombs and set them off in all the rooms of your house, and then vaccum the whole house. Problem solved.

cheapest and safest is to buy a flea comb and comb the cat daily to remove fleas and eggs - have sticky tape nearby and stick any fleas you find to the tape for disposal.
also vaccumm your home and wash all cat bedding.
anyone who thinks its okay to get rid of a cat becuase it has fleas is not deserving to have a pet in the first place... YOU let the cat out at some time which exposed it to fleas - if you didnt want it to get fleas why didnt you just keep it indoors???

Use advantage or frontline
It works great
How it works
Use Advantage monthly to kill fleas within minutes. The active ingredient is imidacloprid, which acts on the nervous system of the flea to cause paralysis and subsequent death. Advantage stops biting fleas in three to five minutes and starts to kill adult fleas within an hour after application.1 Within 12 hours of application, 98-100 percent of fleas are dead. This is important because flea bites can lead to skin infections, cause discomfort for your pet, lead to allergic skin reactions, and can even transmit other disease-causing organisms, including tapeworms.
You won't need to use another flea control product. Advantage kills fleas before they lay eggs, so their life cycle is broken at multiple stages. It also kills flea larvae within 20 minutes of contact.1

you can get single dose tubes of Advantage on Ebay.
I buy the one for dogs 55# and up and use one drop per pound. It's the same stuff in a bigger tube.
*ALSO - give her a bath with Dawn dish soap - let it sit for about 5 or 10 minutes it will kill all the fleas that are on her right now, but it's a temporary fix, Advantage is still your best bet.

give you cat a flea bath. just buy some flea shampoo and give it a bath. i know cats hate it but if you want to keep it then you are going to have to. also buy a flea collar, it worked for my cat. those things are not expensive.
