Okay.. I'm making fondant from scratch. It says to sift the confec. sugar, but what would happen if I didnt sift the sugar? Will it taste bad? Because the sifting is taking too long. Please answer quickly!! Thanks!

Yeah. Thanks guys! I didnt sift it all, and it turned out REALLY sticky and gross. so, I threw it away, and I just iced the cake.

It will wind up unbalanced and sticky. Sifting separates the particulates so their is enough air to create a well balanced fondant. Good Luck!

It makes it lumpier and harder to mix.
