Lennox retired as champion and he had nothing else to prove unlike other boxers like Hopkins,De La Hoya and Jones jr. who don't know how to retire and get a job as a commentator like lewis.

Lewis was great and so smart! He still has most of his brain cells, and isnt getting his face pounded for a few more years!
But if u have to chose a boxer who stayed in it to long u have to saw Evander Hollyfield. Do u believe they still havent found his ear!

Most boxers never retire coming off of a win. Because they feel that because they one they can continue to box no matter there age. Most boxers retire on a loss like Arturo Gatti because you have to get beat up pretty bad before you realize you no longer have the skills you use to. Lennox Lewis is one of the few that has retired coming off a win. The smart thing about Lennox is he has no desire to ever comeback.

You can say that Lennox retired a champ but Marciano is the one you have to give the most credit to for the simple fact that he retired the champ and undefeated. Although Marciano before he retired he knew he would eventually run into trouble and perhaps a lose to his record had he kept on fighting.

That same last fight for Marciano against Archie Moore was the key to it all. Marciano being knocked down for the first time in his career I think it dawned upon him that he could be hurt and bad at that. After the fight Marciano stated that Archie really hurt him like he has never been hurt before and he said that he though if he continued to fight he would get hurt real bad conducting into a possible knockout of just a lose for that matter to his reputation. Marciano lived on his reputation and wanted to keep it alive so he retired when he did because he felt the pressure and reacted like a smart man should.

As for the job as a commentator for Lennox Lewis,,, lol if you even want to call it that. I don't think Lennox is all that good as a commentator he is too stiff and you can tell he gets nervous but hey just give him time he will eventually get the groove and commentate like a champ.

Good luck Lennox in your future findings.

Yes you can say Lennox is smart for retiring now but is he the smartest, I don't think so he sure is up there with them though.

Lennox Loser had nuth'in else to prove? Are you kidding me man or what? After the beating he took from Vitali Klitschko, Lennox promised Klitschko a rematch as the cameras rolled and you can see Lennox didn't want to give Vitali another opportunity but Vitali kept saying "you give me rematch" Everybody thought at that point there would be a rematch since their fight ended due to the cut on Vitali's face. Next thing we know Lennox announced retirement, now I call that a chump not champ. Lennox Loser knew it wouldn't be easy so he chickened out not keeping his promise like a real man should do.

Well Roy Jones did for a while but for some reason came back, Hopefully Bernard Hopkins will get the picture that he can't run with the young guys anymore(He lost to Taylor but beat the piss out of Tarver and beat Winky) Oscar is semi retired but can't seem to step out of the Spot light for to long

I think there's a difference between retiring on top and retiring too late. De La Hoya isn't on top of his game anymore, but if he hung them up now it wouldn't be too late. But there is SO much $$$ for some of these guys that sometimes they (and the people advising them) turn off their brains for more of the cha ching.

Or you could call him a punk for not wanting any more of the Klitschkos. The great Rocky Marciano retired undefeated, but most hang on untill they get beat.

On top? He retired so he wouldn't have to face Vitali Klitschko again (who was ahead on the cards during their fight before it was prematurely stopped). On top? He retired in order to save face!

Lummox Lewis is a coward. He ducked more than a ball chaser at a driving range.

Lennox had to retired. We all know he lost in his last fight. Roy was doing the commentator thing, but he stop.

Another way of looking at that is, why don't Lennox got no heart? If he had any they would've had to carry him out on a stretcher.
