so theres this guy. I really like him and he's just getting over someone.. we've been hanging out a lot but in a group of people. normally he's kind of always near me and today we (everyone in the small group we were in) got in the conversation of homecomming (i know, a while away but oh well) and he said i was going with him... it might be kind of stupid, but i was wondering if this could be a way of saying that he likes me...??

It's not stupid for you to think that this is his way of liking you.
But move very slowly with him. The last thing you want to become is his Lady T.
And who is Lady T? Lady T is the transitional lady who a guy is with between the last girlfriend he's recently broken up with and the next girlfriend he really wants to be with. All Lady T is good for is easing his pain after his breakup and being there for him until he finds his next love.
So be very, very careful. In the meantime, go to the homecoming with him and enjoy yourself. See it for what it is: Two friends enjoying an outing together.

there are only two reasons that a guy would ask a girl to a dance that's not anytime soon.. mostly he likes you.. and wants to spend more time with you.. but there's also a possibility that you're his last resort if he doesn't get any date for the homecoming

It sounds like he really likes you a lot because in advance he wants to go with you so no other guy asks you. This is his way of showing you he likes you a lot. Go for it. Good Luck =)

dont assume too much. girls would need a concrete statement from a guy before beleiving him. on second thought, its not right to fully and absolutely believe whatever a guy says, much more what he is hinting!
