Then you haven't been looking. Christians here constantly insult atheists, Muslims, and others. Pretending that Christians here aren't part of the problem is simply dishonest. In fact the Christians here are the main violators.

Here's a few examples:

Note that in this third one PastorArt insults people who accept evolution, telling a rather inane lie about how science works.

There are also of course the hundreds of times that Christians here claim that those who disagree with them are "going to hell", or that nonbelievers are "working for Satan" or that nonbelievers here "secretly know that believers are right, and are looking for God" or that people are atheists "because they don't want to be held accountable for their behavior".

Lying about others is the main activity of Christians here, it seems.

Really?!? Wow, how fortunate you've been to not see any of it! You ought to check out some of the comments from some of the anti-gay activists who use the Bible to promote homophobia. By so-called Christians, in my lifetime, I've been called immoral, degenerate, depraved, sick, mentally ill, evil, disobedient, willfully disobeying God, hated by God, and that's not all. I'm even leaving out the profanities. You must have no idea how nasty and mean some Christians can be until you read some of the hate mail they send to those of us who support equality for gay men and women. I just got my first piece of hate mail from a "Christian" on Yahoo Answers yesterday. It was rather mild, but it still insulted my faith. Some of the gentler insults come from the Catholic church, insults such as "intrinsically evil" and "disordered." And don't forget the insistence that we gay people are going to cause God to destroy America. That's not an insult?

It's nice that you can be so blissfully unaware of what others are saying in the name of Christ. The problem is that denying it happens only reinforces the belief that Christians are hypocrites. This makes all the rest of us Christians look bad.

I have seen it, but I'm claiming no payback.

To give as good as you get is a form of vengeance, which I disagree with.

To dismiss another person's religious beliefs and not listen to the person, based on that, is a form of closed-mindedness. Again I disagree.

To dismiss someone's beliefs and not even consider hearing them at all is a form of ignorance. Disagreed

To actively use a persons religion as a reason to cause harm is an example of hate. I cannot stress how much I disagree.

All in all, I've rounded up my beliefs there, and I can safely say it's something for a lot of R&S'ers to think about.
Think about, in terms of do they also disagree like I do?

I wish you all peace on your chosen paths

I know you mean well, but what you're saying simply isn't true. There are numerous Christians, on this board and off, who find it necessary to insult others to get their point across. It's the same in every group of people. Christians are not exempt from this, and neither is anyone else. In any group, there will always be people criticizing and insulting.

I personally have had quite a few names thrown at me from Christians. I don't usually get into the mud-slinging (not to say that I never have), I usually just correct their spelling.

There have been some Christians on here who have been insulting towards everyone else. I'm not sure if they're trolls, or what...I HOPE they're trolls. There have also been people who profess to be Christians that have sent hateful emails to others.

However, the more prolific Christians tend NOT to call names...but I don't think people notice us as much.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there are people who call themselves "Christians" who insult people on here, because they don't agree with what they believe. Personally just because someone doesn't agree with my point of view is no reason to insult anyone.

I just find it really upsetting that when I come to this area of YA, that I see as much Christian bashing as there is.

Have you ever been here before? It doesn't sound like it.

Christians are always referring to atheists and other non-believers as the evil minions of Satan. They have a million different ways to say it and obviously don't mean it as a compliment.

Let's try these for a start:

Insulting behavior isn't just language -- it's attitude.

EDITED TO ADD: biblegracespirit, it's called a CURSE. You know, the thing that so many Christians prattle on about witches doing? And you're actually proud of doing it...

Sadly that's what these "unfriendly" posts are trying to get us to do - - badmouth the poster and badmouth each other in disagreement. This is the example that they want to see. Chalk it up to Satan winning that one.....be careful. Joyce Myers has a book out called "Me and My Big Mouth". We need to personify Christ, not defend Him. He can defend Himself. Just love all of these people and shed off the insults. You don't have to respond to them. We need to pray first and ask God to hold our wicked tongues. katiefish <><
