I have a surround system on my main tv. As for ceiling mnt speakers they are going in the finished basement. I wanted to install 1 in the bath over or near the whirlpool tub and have another in my workshop area. I have a rec room with 2 speakers and the reciever with a tv, combo vcr/dvd. Thank you to all who answered- I got a tip to give more details so this is what I have so far.

If this is for a surround set up, you need to look at a timbre' match set for your existing speakers...i.e the same brand and series for the best sound.

If it is for a distributed system it depends on you application, you will want to look at dispersion angles effective power and a number of different factors to numerous to mention here. If you are a little more specific with you question, you will get a better answer.

An old trick. Pick up some good speaker boxes at any auction or even the salvation army. Or a junk yard. There are many speaker companies that recone speakers at a rediculously low price. A little polishing and some new fabric of the covers and you have new high quality speakers for cheap. I did this with an old pair of Cerwin Vegas and the came out just great. As good or better than the original speakers.
