I think the bible refers to women different than we do these days. Women in the bible are placed below men and that is how god intended women to be. Society places women equal to men, and to some extent it is not doing us any justice.

The Bible does not say that a woman cannot teach a man about Christ. Priscilla, along with her husband, taught Apollos the way of God more accurately (Acts 18:26).
It does not say women cannot exercise spiritual gifts. The four daughters of Phillip had the gift of prophecy (Acts 21:9). 1 Corinthians 14:3 tells us "But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation." Thus prophesy and other gifts can be used between women and men.
It does not say that women cannot evangelize. Lydia, after being converted, had regular fellowships in her home and evangelized others(Acts 16:14,40).
let's see how God approaches women in the Bible. The first person to see the resurrected Christ was a woman (John 20:15-18). The first European convert was a woman (Acts 16:14). The only followers of Jesus to stand with Him in his crucifixion were women. There were woman in the upper room and anointed with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14, 2:1-4). Jesus was born to an earthly mother, but not an earthly father(Matt. 1:18,etc.). Only a woman understood Christ's upcoming death (Mark 14:8). These actions show that women played a part as crucial to Christ's ministry as the men.
God created the world and its systems with an order to them. He has divinely given the responsibility of authority for the church as an organized body to the man, just as the ultimate authority of the marriage relationship rests on the man. This does not make the man superior, only placed in a different role than the woman. The best example of this I can think of is the tribes of ancient Israel. The Levites were chosen out of the twelve tribes to be the priests and to run the house of God, but this didn't mean they were superior to any of the other tribes. That is just the position in which God placed them. In the same way, men are to be the authority in the church. Women are allowed to teach other women, and instruct men. Even Timothy, the recipient of this epistle, was tutored by his mother and grandmother (2 Tim 1:5; 3:15). God also commanded Abraham to listen to the council of his wife in Genesis 21:12. However, since the authority falls to the man, it is he who will be held accountable for improper decisions, such as also happened to Abraham when he followed bad advice from Sarah in Genesis 16.
So, God is not against women at all. Because each sex has a different role to play, doesn't make one role more important than the other. Men are entrusted with leading the church. Women are entrusted with bearing children and providing them with a Godly and secure home life so they may become
God cherishes women. You are His precious creation. Jesus lived and died for you. He loves you more than you can imagine. No, Christianity doesn’t support the oppression of women. Christianity liberates women’s souls so they can be free, beautiful, and radiant princesses — daughters of the King of Kings!

The Thyatira congregation was warned not to tolerate the evil influence of apostatizing women. Christ’s spirit-inspired message to the congregation helps godly women to keep their God-assigned place today. They do not try to exercise authority over men and do not lure any brothers into spiritual or physical fornication. (1 Timothy 2:12)
When sentencing Eve, God said: “Your craving will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.” (Genesis 3:16) True to that prophecy, Adam must have now exercised his domination over his wife, perhaps no longer treating her as a companion and helper. And Eve seemed to manifest an unhealthy dependence upon this man. One commentary even goes so far as to describe her “craving” as “a desire bordering upon disease.”In our mutual best interests, then, the Scriptures advise: “Be in subjection to one another in fear of Christ.” Accord each other loving mutual respect; neither hinder nor compete. The text continues: “Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is head of his wife as the Christ also is head of the congregation.”—Ephesians 5:21-23.
The Greek word used by Paul at Ephesians 5:21, 22 implies subjecting oneself, not being forced into subjection. And the subjection is for the Lord’s sake, not just for the harmony of the marriage. Christ’s anointed congregation subjects itself voluntarily, joyfully to Christ. When a wife does the same for her husband, then the marriage will very likely be happy and successful.

Absolutely. Think about it: Who was the first one to see the resurrected Christ? Mary Magdalene! A woman!. Who was the first European convert? A woman! Lydia! God used women left and right to spread His word. A close look at the New Testament will reveal this. Beware of legalistic views on women, which is what I think you're doing. Remember, God doesn't play favorites (Romans 2:11). We are all equal in His eyes, and that what really matters.

Clearly it does not:
21 she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you.
(If we followed this law, half our country's women would be stoned before they graduated high school)
22 If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.
(a woman who commits adultery must die? Very respectful, indeed.)
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [c] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
(The girl, apparently, has no say in the matter.)

No...
Corinthians 14:34-36 we read, "Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church, for Adam was formed first, then Eve."
Genesis 3:16 says, "Unto the woman He said…your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you."
"Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence For Adam was first formed, then Eve."

Absolutely God respects women. You have verses here that are slanted to look like women are not being respected, but you are not looking at the full picture. In Genesis, the reason why women have pain in childbirth is because of Eve sinning in the Garden of Eden. Men were punished by having to toil and work in the Garden (which they did not do before the fall). In Ephesians 5:22-24 you are pointing out how women are to submit themselves to their husbands however in verse 25 it says that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it...Christ died for the church. That means husbands are to love their wives so much that they would be willing to die for them. A man that would die for his wife would treat her with respect and not like a doormat.
Look at how Jesus treated women in the Bible. Jesus saved the adulteress woman from being stoned to death by her accusers and showed mercy to her. Jesus showed compassion toward Mary and Martha and even was moved to tears over their sadness when the women thought Jesus was too late to save their brother Lazarus. Rahab was spared in the city of Jericho for helping the Israelite spies.
God loves and respects men and women alike. We were both created in God's image. I believe that women may not have always been respected by other people in the world but God has always loved and respected women and He still does. We are precious jewels to Him.

Well, it's funny, but you can't just arbitrarily toss all scripture out that refer to the supposed oppression of women. In Timothy, the women in question were gossipping women whom nagged their men into submission. This scripture is telling those women to be silent. In Genesis, it's the result of what Eve did in disobedience to God. I'm not going to look up the rest, but you should really get a good interlinear Bible that will help you put these passages in context. katiefish <><

are we supposed to look all of theose up? OK I will, and I will get back to you with the reat of my answer.
1Tim...No just because a woman is in submissiln does not make her less..Adam's penalty for his sin was worse.....His lineage was cursed...the results of what happened fell on his sholders.
Gen...more of the same...Adam...Cursed is the ground that you will work in toil, you shall eat of it....He also received a death sentence.
Ecc...? doesn't exist only goes to 12:14
1Cor... It is thought that this letter was not form Pails origional letters to the Corinthian Church...It is not known what particulatr problem was being addressed.....look at v36...hints that they may be prophesying falsely or inaccurately
Eph...Submission is a wonderful thing when it is applied biblicly....it is twisted in religion...Husbands are to care for their wives like Christ cared for his Church.
Cor...Again Biblical way things are set up...Christ being equal took a submissive position to God..Not a less valuable position.
1Tim...Same Submission is not less valued
I think I have made my point...i hope this helps...In Christ.

Yes, absolutely! God gave men AND women the same salvation, the same Bible, and the same gracious Jesus. It's just that the Bible states in Genesis that women was made from men, for men, and after men. Therefore we are to be submissive to them ,IF they are to love us as themselves. So technically, we are pretty much equal.
