Actually, it's not simple. It will take anywhere from 6~12 months if we don't want to suffer 25% casualties among the troops.
As to whether there was lying about the reasons for invading Iraq, what does it really matter? Congress voted for the authorization to use military force. There is no civil detrimental reliance statute that applies -- Congress approved the invasion and the subsequent occupation. So, arguing about the past is wasted effort.
As to your partisan analysis of the Democrats and Republicans, I think you've summed it up pretty well.
The issue is, how do we fix the problem now.

Well, people do focus on that.
And people like you keep their heads turned in that direction.
And keeping heads in that direction keeps the government in a state of perpetual inactivity. The speeches that democrat and Republican presidential candidates alike, sound like a broken radio. "We must leave Iraq." "We must do it soon." "This war is lost."
It is this political view on the Iraq War that is causing its defeat. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. People are not willing to fight it out, because too many American lives have been lost.
Humph.
The current count stands at about 3,600 today. Over the course of 4 years. If you look histortically at the battles that made history, that is the same amount that got killed in the first day, in the first hour, in the first minute of those battles.
Normandy
Marne
Gettysburgh
Just to name a few.
You, Sir, really do not focus on the reality of war: people die. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but anything against this is just pure manure, as you might think of me.

Its not going to be simple to move out, Just the logistics of vehicles, equipment, staging the pull out, washing out the sand and decontamination from the tanks, maintaining a corridor with secure routes staged and maintaining a secure retreat takes time and planning. We would be looking at at least a year if we started now. In the meantime it would be a good idea to set up some kind of regional political security agreements. Its agreed we never could have won this war.

Most of your speech is true except for the democrats failing us... they have had NO power for most of the last 8 years, Even now when they have majorities in Congress the republicans block every thing they try to end the war with filibusters and vetoes. The republicans get 100% of the blame for Iraq - period.

If leaving Iraq were only as simple as you seem to think! Maybe if you think about it a bit more you will see that it is not just troops that need to be removed from Iraq, although that is a major factor, but we have spent billions in your tax money & mine in sending military equipment into that country, are we just to kiss that off? Are we to leave it for them to use against another country in the area? We also need to bring that equipment home for our own use against others that may wish to make a run at this country. Some of that equipement is very sophisticated & we need it returned to us for our own protection. Think about it a bit more, please.

Wow, see I think you are wrong on one point we do owe the people something. A huge apology. All of humanity is responsible for one another. Instead of seeing people from other countries as our enemies we should see them as just people trying to live their lives and feed their children. Because that is what most people all around the world really want. Happy, peaceful lives. It is ours and the other governments around the world who push for and gain from war.

No, say it isn't so - the government lie to us???? As if this is anything new.
If we pull out now, we lose a lot of soldiers, I have to believe that we will get out as soon as it is safe for our troops.

Interesting dissertation. To bad it's flawed.
Your initial comment about the Iraq war is incorrect, which
renders the entire dissertation ineffective..
