We are not only headed for world war 3 between 2010 and 2012... Rather a nuclear war of the era... a fight to the finish between Christianity and Islamic Dharma! Over 1200 million people shall perish in world war 3. A catastrophic event that spells permanent changes in the thinking of human beings! A pot of gold lying on road shall not find a claimant in 2014!

Wanton desires and greed for materialistic riches taking a back seat... 2014 shall announce the dawn of golden era! And why would a world war happen? When humanity experiences complete loss of patience... ego's clash! It results in clashes world over. With passage of time these minor clashes grow larger and larger and finally take the shape of world war!

The biggest cause of a war is breaking down of relationships amongst human beings! The trust between parents and children, management and the worker facing its lowest ebb... the situation world over ends in chaos! This is why present time in Hinduism has been termed as Kali Yuga... a period of complete distress and calamity!

The end of Kali Yuga always occurs with a world war! During the times of Lord Krishna in Dwaper Yuga conditions were almost similar! A Mahabharata (a war of world war magnitude) was fought between Pandava and Kaurava kings. Dharma had to be upheld under all costs! This prompted Lord Krishna an Avatar of the era (God manifest in human form) to take charge!

The expected world war 3 would be triggered the moment an atomic weapon, poisonous gas or the like is used against USA by Iran with extensive paraphernalia of support from all Muslim countries. Pakistan is the kingpin of all such activities! The spoilt child of USA has now grown up... when comes the opportune time... it shall strike with fury!

In the domain of God Almighty there is no place for subordination! No country in present times would subjugate its sovereignty... however big the opponent is! God Almighty places democracy above all! Unfortunately, WWIII will be global suicide, therefore in answer to your question, as long as there's rational superpowers who believe in MAD, there will be no WW3. By definition, the next world war wil be nuclear, how could it not. In a nuclear war there will be no winner. In a nuclear world, the only true enemy is war itself.

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not if both sides believe no price for victory will be too high. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask what country would be victorious, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

While we hear talk of a nuclear-Iran or a confrontation with NorKor, little is said about the 2 bulls in the glass shop. The arsenals of Russia and the US are enough to destroy a million Hiroshimas. But there are fewer than 3000 cities on the Earth with populations of 100,000 or more. You cannot find anything like a million Hiroshimas to obliterate. Prime military and industrial targets that are far from cities are comparatively rare. Our biggest threat is from an accidental launch by the Russians.

At the point of global suicide, it doesn't matter who is on what side....where you go to hide, or how long you can survive. In a nuclear age like i said before, the only true enemy is war itself.

Given the level of hatred, prejudice, mistrust, greed and overall unwillingness to get along that fills the world -- it would be a miracle (in every sense of the word) if we avoided another multi-continent war.

It may not happen for decades, but somehow I don't see the human race giving up fear and hate and prejudice and greed in the next 50 years.

i see no ww3 happening. even with a deficit no one would declare war on us. the anerican people will not allow for any more invasions. maybe ww3 will be in 50 years when the us still tries to control a world with many superpowers who could stop us.
