Any FREE programs out there that are good for starting out with movie animation?

Like where I could use a drawing pad, and animate easily. Something like Powerpoint. And where do you download Powerpoint?

For "something like" PowerPoint OpenOffice (but completely free - made by Sun Microsystems) is good to consider, along with its offshoots like NeoOffice.
