The Bible teaches that Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, but Mormons teach otherwise. Why?

"Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers" (Mormon Doctrine, p. 547, 1979).

Brigham Young taught: "The birth of the Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood---was begotten of his Father as we were of our fathers" (Journal of Discourses vol.8, p.115); and "when the Virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, the Father had begotten him in his own likeness [flesh and blood]. He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost" (Journal of Discourses, vol.1, p.50).

Joseph Fielding Smith wrote: "The birth of the Savior was a natural occurrence unattended by any degree of mysticism, and the Father God was the literal parent of Jesus in the flesh as well as in the spirit" (Religious Truths Defined, p.44).

It shouldn't be a surprise or even a topic of a serious discussion!

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.
14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

Joe Smith (Joseph Smith Jr.) walking around in the deep woods, with blue spectacles reading golden plates ( none of it has ever been found again) clearly indicates either use of drugs or insanity...make your pick....so why not also try to twist the truth and make some money on it.

Every Christian knows; the Bible is the ultimate authority, and Scripture must be interpret by use of Scripture,
not by holding our Holy Scripture up against ; The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants or The Pearl of Great Price.

Revelation 22:18
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.

Simply put, they do.

As another stated, these ideas (not Mormons scriptures) you quote doesn't state that God and Mary had sex or that Mary was not a virgin. They only state that she concieved of a child and gave birth as any other natural woman would give, only God was the Father.

Ask any Mormon, which is I hope where anyone would go to know what Mormons believe, and they will tell you Mary was a virgin.

God bless.

Are you aware that there is no role of the Messiah that he will be born of a god and a virgin, in Judaism? This idea is based on a total mistranslation by the early Church. On purpose. There has never been a virgin birth in Judaism.

This idea comes from other ancient pagan religions, not Judaism. We've never had it, so Christianity didn't get it from us, as much as they try to back engineer it into our text with their mistranslations and twists.

Please read the following if you're interested in how the Messiah is born, what he does, what he DOESN'T do, what his role is, and what prophecies he will fulfill (note: no second coming. He does them the only time he comes or he wasn't the messiah):

So it's fine if you want to believe that you have the right guy, and he was born of a god and a virgin, but just realise that you're actually believing an ancient pagan theology that doesn't come from Judaism whatsoever.

To learn about other earlier gods born of virgins, used as human blood sacrifices for sin (mostly virgin as Jesus was), etc.:

I wonder if you read the responses that many people take time away from families and other things to write...

Anyway, none of the statements you listed are scripture in our church or any other, nor do I own any of the books you list. We believe as told in the New Testament, that a virgin was chosen by God the Father to be the mother of His Son in the flesh.

You already knew we don't believe that God the Father "banged" Mary. *sigh*

What you examine got here from an anti-Mormon source, and is definitely incorrect. We have self belief no such element. We have self belief precisely what you examine in the Bible - Jesus became born of the Virgin Mary, conceived via the means of the Holy Spirit.

How does this say taht Mary was not a virgin? She had a normal pregnancy and birth, and the Father of her baby was not a mortal man. But nothing was said here about she not being a virgin.

well hopefully as I am Mormon I may be able to shed a little light on your situation. We believe that Jesus was born of Mary, but there was no way that she could have been virgin and conceived the babe on her own. Mary was chosen to give birth to Jesus Christ, because God was not on earth, he needed to chose a mother to give birth to his son. He was the only begotten son of the Father. I hope that helps.

the great holy Jesus declares himself to be the son of man and admits to his Apostles that he too was the son of God as was written Virgin Mary concieved by the power of the Holy Spirit not by the holy Spirit.

I guess that's what the angel helped Joseph translate...

But if you really want to resolve this, guess what, you're wrong. The original Bible text uses a word that only means "young woman", not "virgin". The two words are very similar, and it is simply a mistranslation. People who may have know it was a mistranslation probably used it to help create a more divine image of Jesus. Yup, crucial idea...simple typo.

Sorry, you are wrong! We mormons dO teach that Mary was a virgin mother. You've obviously got your facts somewhere else and wrong. Putting other religons down doesn't make you any better in person.
