Rabbit can be tasty. A bit rich or fatty but if prepared properly, very good.

Use a recipe if you are going to cook it. And if it is wild, soak it in milk for a night to get the gamey taste out.

Try it in a stew with biscuits. Don't think about what kind of animal it is..if you aren't use to eating game.

If you don't have any at home and are thinking of trying it at a restaurant...French ones tend to make it best. Indian restaurants aren't bad either.

What does it taste like? Meat. Not like chicken. More like beef or lamb. Good luck. Stay open minded.

And when you are done, try my favorites: octopus, grilled, or perhaps elk if you can find it. These are great!!!!!!!

It's a standard gag, but it's true, in this case. The taste and texture is similar to chicken. The meat is very tender and practically flakes apart, when cooked properly.

I've had fresh rabbit barbecued and deep fried. One of my best experiences was at a Moroccan restaurant where I enjoyed Rabbit Paprika while sitting on the floor, watching belly dancers all around me.

The bad experience came when my younges daughter found out that I ate a "bunny rabbit." She was about 25 at the time and still has not forgiven me, almost 15 years later.

If it is Wild Rabbit, then it does have that bit of wild, gamey taste, unless processed and cooked properly.
It actually should be frozen first to help get rid of the Wild taste.

If it is Regular Rabbit, then it does not taste like chicken, but a bit along the same line.

Again - if it is fried like fried chicken, then it will be more similiar.
If it is fixed in the German Method, then it tastes completely different.

I Have cooked it, and have eaten it both ways, but for a Very Long time have not and will not eat any more of it -- I just do not like it.

Yes, my Gramma use to make a wonderful Rabbit Stew when I was a child. It was so good words do not begin to describe it. It is similiar to chicken in texture and does not have a very strong flavor. The only bad experience was overeating the rabbit stew one night and having nightmares for being a little piggy.
Peace.

I have never eaten rabbit, but have heard it "tastes like chicken." My reason for not eating it goes back to my childhood. My grandmother raised rabbits for sale. She became deathly ill with something called "rabbit fever" from eating one. I was pretty young at the time, but I remember she had high fever and a lot of her hair fell out.

Yes. Cook like chicken. Rabbit meat is becoming popular. It even tastes better than chicken.

I've had rabbit before, and it wasn't bad at all. With all meats, it depends on how you cook it. Mine was broiled. It's not a large cut of meat (obviously), but it tastes considerable to lamb. I didn't have adverse affects, except to my wallet (usually expensive restaurants only serve rabbit.)

I love rabbit - had it first in Italy, where it's a pretty usual meat in the countryside. There, it was slow-cooked in a casserole with tomatoes and red wine. We had it with polenta (maize meal cooked with veg. stock) and I thought it was delicious. I'd say the meat tasted quite gamey, not as strong as venison, but similar texture.

I've had a rabbit pie over here in the UK, but it was cooked in a kind of bechamel sauce, and I thought the meat tasted a bit soapy. I cook mine in red wine, normally, though rarely - my husband considers me horrendously cruel to even contemplate eating bunny. (..just to add, I'm the owner of pet guinea pigs, and I have no intention of popping them on a spit and roasting them for lunch)

I ran to the back yard where our rabbits was. One of them was my pet. Well, she was gone and I never ate rabbit again. Eventually my ex became my ex lol ☺

We grew up eating rabbit meat, squirrel...etc. It tastes rather like a tough chicken (unless you pressure cook it). It's good!
