That's cool. But tandem bikes cost more than twice as much. Replacement parts are more specialized and $$$ too.

Why do you always want to take 2 Mormons fishing with you?

So you don't have to share your beer.

Actually most missionaries purchase their own bicycles. The Church will often find people in the area where the missionary will be serving and help them find a really good deal not available otherwise. If the Missionary is going to be serving in an are that requires a car then there is a car the Church owns that is assigned to that area. Missionaries will also pay their own rent and cover their own food costs. The Church arranges places for them to stay. But it is the missionaries money that covers the cost. There are some occasions where missionaries will get financial help to pay for their missions, in my case my Grandpa help me. In other cases, members will just donate money to the general missionary fund to be given to whatever Missionary or potential missionary needs it. So no the Church would not save money by having the missionaries ride tandem bicycles.

Tandem bikes are about 8x more expensive than a standard mountain bike. Also, if one tire blows, both guys are then stuck.
Besides, missionaries already live with each other on and off for two years. Would you really want to spend your day looking down at your roommate's butt while you pedal from house to house?

What exactly are you promoting?
Maybe someone needs to re-read Leviticus and Corinthians... :)

Haha...

I think that's asking for just a bit too much, don't you? There are plenty of people that already give them a hard time, I think a bike built for two would just make it worse.

Probably, right? Afterall, they're usually always headed to the same location. Sounds like it'd be really efficient.

In emergancys, it wouldnt be too helpful. It would be clumbsy trying to ride one of those and would cause more problems thant they would solve.
