I have no tattoos and desire none but i've always wondered, if you feel foolish when you get your boy friend's or girl friend's name tattooed on you then the love dies.

Try getting "Willy's Property!!" Across your upper chest area as a woman?!!! This is what a family friend did, and she came to our family reunion with a halter top on and you could see it, and we all were like "What a dummy!!" She's not going to be with him long!! Cuz, they were fighting as soon as they had too much to drink, and years down the line we'd heard they did break-up!! How stupid!! Can you be!! And she had this tatooed, in Big BLACK letters too!! I feel sorry for her, cuz she definately didnt' strike me as the type who could afford lazor surgery to get it removed either, and what man would want her with this guys name tatooed, in Bold letters across her chest??? HM? Some People, make me wonder what their thinking when they do such stupid A--nine things!!! Me, never!!! In fact I dont think tattoes, look good on women period, unless its like a tiny little tinkerbell or something around the hip area, somewhere where no one will see it, when thier going for a job interview, or things like this you know.. And for men, I think they should only get them underneath the shirt, and sleeve area's!! And thank-God my 3 husbands only had their's underneath the sleeve area's!!! Or else it would have bothered me!! Good Question, hun!! Smile!!

Here's my theory.

When your dating, tattooing a name on you is probably not a good idea. I was always against it. Even after I got married! But 13 years into our marriage we had survived our first deployment and I knew nothing could seperate us, so I inked his name on my left shoulder with a skeleton key hanging off the last letter of his name. Symbolizing that he holds the key to my heart.

Were still going strong! And God forbid something happened to him, it wouldnt bother me a bit to have it there. It's a memory of a time in my life, the love of my life.

I dont think anyone would feel foolish for doing it if their love died... its not like they broke up!

The only name I have is my father's name, a tribute to his memory. I think as far as relationships go, you should wait 'till you're married or have been together for a very long time, and make sure to put it somewhere it can easily be covered up if the relationship doesn't work out.

Getting someone else's name on your body unless it's your children is always a bad idea. A lot of people think it curses the relationship and will eventually make it end. It's something I would never do personally.

In the tattoo industry getting your lover's name or image tattooed on your body is considered a curse and should never be done unless they passed away and you get a memorial tattoo. Wait till you get married and have children and get your child's name or image tattooed instead.

never ever get a b/f or g/f name tattooed on your body. Your child's name or maybe a memorial tattoo for a parent or grandparent or sibling is OK

You know? I think that putting someones name on your body is not the best idea. I would never put someones name on my body unless I was related to them? Like it was my mom or day or sister? They only other way I would put someones name on my body is if they died and we were really close. To me it's like a tribute to the person. Just a way of making sure their memory lives on. :-) I think thats important.

I think it's crazy to do that. The only names that you should have tattooed on your body are your children, your parents, or other significant family member who will always be your family member. Love relationships, even if we think they may last forever, may not.

I'll never get anyone's name tattooed on me except my own.
My boyfriend will be putting my name on me in Arabic (my family is Syrian/Lebanese) and also giving me another larger piece I designed myself, and since it'll be my first, I'm having him sign the edge of the tattoo.
No "Ashton Luvs Ian" forever tats though.
LOL
Dumb :-)

I would NEVER do it no matter who the person was. Big mistake. Plus getting a name tattooed on you just looks dumb - especially if it's your own.
