I'm religious, and I pray, but attending mass every Sunday is not for me. That's not the way I want to worship. My family is Catholic and they go every Sunday, I don't want to be the odd ball in my entire extended family.

Also, if I don't go to church, what are other ways for me to worship?

Just hang in there..maybe you can start thinking about the deeper reasons you don't want to be in church. It's not interesting to you? You have other things you'd like to be doing on Sunday morning? What other ideas do you have for worshipping God? One great way is to give Him that dedication of one hour on Sunday morning. After all, He's given you the entire week. Also, maybe you can hook up with some people that are closer to your age at the church and see if there are other activities that you can all do together to get their insight as well. If there aren't any activities for your age group, then maybe it'd be a good idea to talk to your mom about looking for another parish. God's plans for you are to prosper you, and not to harm you. Keep that truth. Good luck & God Bless!

First of all, you may be religious, but are you a Christian? By that I mean are you washed from your sins in the blood of Jesus Christ? Anyone can be religious. I know very little about Catholic Mass, but I do know a little about the Bible. And it tells us to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. (Heb. 10:25) What is the purpose of our assembling together? That we might worship and glorify God. If you do not have the desire to do this, then I would say that you have never been saved to begin with. For the Word of God also tells us that if we are in Christ, then we are a new creature. (2 Cor. 5:17) This means that we will have new desires; which will include praising and giving glory unto God ; not just by ourselves, but with other brothers and sisters in Christ. If you do not want to be an odd ball in the family, I would suggest that you get on your knees before God, and ask Him to forgive you for your sins, and place the right desires within your heart. And if you truly ask in sincerity, He will most certainly do just that.

Worship is MUCH more than a church service. If you go to a movie with your friends and you choose to see and pg-13 rahter than rated R movie because you know the rated R movie is against God, you have just had a worship service, if you choose not to curse when you get mad, or not fight someone when they make you angry, there you are in worship with God. Worshiping God is not going to church and singing Hymns and saying certin prayers, Worshiping God is doing things that glorify His name and make Him happy. On telling your praents, don't just tell them, ask him about it and tell them how you feel about things and what you and they can do to change things and make mass better for you, or if you don't have to go every sunday but maybe once to twice a month.

Realize that leaving the Church may extremely heartbreaking for your mother and the rest of your family, but that is not the most important issue. The important part of the issue, is that you would be puting your soul in jeopardy. You cannot just pick and choose what you feel is right out of convenience. God created you and gave his only son up to death for your sins and the sins of world. If you cannot show some gratitude by giving up an hour of your of time a week for Him then I feel very bad for you because you must be very very busy. If you for some reason find Mass boring, you are only insulting yourself for the Mass is the greatest thing on earth and in the heaven. It where mere bread and wine, are changed by the greatest miracle in all of creation into the body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray that if you are going through a dry period in your spiritual life, you pray through it, not fall into some relativistic empty mentality. You will end up miserable, and your life will be incomplete. Stay Catholic, you are right where you are suppose to be. God Bless You.

Just try saying that you do believe, but you want to worship in a way that means something to you, and that is special to you. Explain to her that you don't want to be the "odd ball," letting her know that you are aware of your place in the family, but that you need to walk your own path (to do what you think is right, or best, for you).

you answered your own question. you need to say "attending mass every sunday is not for me. that's not the way i want to worship". you also need to say why it's not the way you want to worship and give some alternatives.

Not all your answers can be found in a church. Going to church doesn't make someone a good person. Maybe you need to go out into the world and do good deeds. Don't lie to Mom. Even if she freaks out, you have to be honest.

you might be one who's getting the early warning signs.... the catholics and the christians will be proven the wicked ones.... for ceturies they have monopolized spiritual meanings on earth...usually through murder and war... they use to kill shaman, medicine men and women, spirit guides of all sorts, to keep spiritual power to themselves... spirit belongs to nature not their pope god.... these things will come to be common knowledge... so try reaching out to nature... meditation to the sounds of nature.. just sitting there listening to the birds sing the river run and such can bring you peace and calm... if you are not near these things get a tape or cd with the sounds...

Well, if you are a child, it can be tough. You may have to go to Catholic church until you are old enough to move out. If you are old enough, then I would say that you should try a Protestant church. But you would have to go to church. Are you trying to avoid church with any religion?

Go to daily Mass. It has a whole entire different atmosphere about it. Then decide.
