It is a matter of obedience. If you are not willing to do a simple thing like be baptized, then you are not willing to do anything.

God and Jesus commanded it and the first century Christians obeyed it and we have examples in the New testament, so we should obey also. I usually quote scripture, but people reject it anyway so just look it up yourself. God bless

Wow, I can't believe how many Christians don't think baptism is essential! It is a commandment that we get baptized! The fact that so few recognize the importance of baptism is a witness to me that many have apostatized from the truth and replaced the doctrines of God with doctrines of men. If you wanted to have an outward manifestation of an inward belief, that would be living a Christlike lifestyle! Perhaps after reading a few passages, some might begin to understand the importance of baptism...

"Jesus answered, 'Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.' "
Please note the word "water."
Of course there are other passages in the NT, people will quote such as Romans 10:9; 10:13; etc. But Romans 6:3-8 states clearly that in order to be raised to newness of life and united with Christ in his resurrection we must be "buried" with him through baptism.
The short of it is we can go back and forth and do the Fundamentalist/folk Christian bible verse dance until we are blue in the face (or our typing fingers fall off). To get the answer (though from your snide comment I am not sure you really want an answer) we have to examine the totality of scripture, especially the NT Epistles of Paul and the traditions of the Christian church (which I am sure you and other here believe more from Dan Brown regarding these than the church itself). Baptism is the norm and is understood as necessary for salvation, even in those denominations that practice "believer baptism."

After preaching the gospel, some responded:

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off— for all whom the Lord our God will call." Acts 2:37-39

The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. He also commands his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and to baptize them. Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament. The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are "reborn of water and the Spirit." God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments.

The Church has always held the firm conviction that those who suffer death for the sake of the faith without having received Baptism are baptized by their death for and with Christ. This Baptism of blood, like the desire for Baptism, brings about the fruits of Baptism without being a sacrament.

No. Baptism does not save you! It is an act of obedience, and a public profession of your faith. It is a symbol of the resurrection. The only Way back to God is through Jesus, His Son. You MUST BE BORN AGAIN TO ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!!!

No. Baptism is your public expression of faith. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

no. Baptism is just a public display of your Christianity. Jesus tells us to get baptised after we r saved but it is not required to go to heaven or to fellwship with God.

Baptism is only showing that you are saved to everyone in your church. I don't think you have to, but if you really loved God and were truely saved, i don't see a reason why you wouldn't want to.
