If the end is near, then Why is the Watchtower Bible and Tract society investing millions on realestate?...Seems to me that they would set the example in "Not investing in this system".

The WBTS OBVIOUSLY doesn't believe that it is in the last days....They are raking in the megabucks, and are not building Kingdom Halls or giving any of that money to charaties..........And do not tell me that they doo build kingdom Halls or assembly Buildings with it, becaise I know for sure that the burden of building such structures falls squarely and heavily on the backs of the people....I have been involved in building 3 Kingdom Halls, and the Assembly Hall in Freemont Ca.

Since they have been preaching that since 1879, it has become an accepted - and meaningless - belief.
While outwardly professing to believe that Armageddon is 'imminent', most are aware that the WT chronology has thus far proved to be unreliable at every announced date . It appears that most profess to believe that Armageddon is coming 'soon', but since they've never been right before, they are wise to prepare for another eventuality.

Are you kidding? Dont you see the news? from 1900 to 1986 there were 86 millions of deads only in wars (Now add 20 more years) 12 times more that in the century 19, that was 8 millions , famines (Go to Africa or Haiti and ask what is that and you will see what is hunger people living with less than 1 dollar daily).
AIDS More than 50 millions people infected (The whole population of Colombia and Venezuela together)
Violence and wrongdoers Few hours ago in my own house a thief came into my house and stole me my wallet and two celular phone and my Digital Camera and 1 hour later
Another neighbor was ataccked phsically that almost was killed.
Would you like to keep hearing the long list?
Maybe you should tell Esmeralda that read international news the world is not USA, you are just the 10% and you received two planes in the World Trade center wasn´t my country who received it, and when your airport are in Red alert, is not for a joke , isn´t it?
BY the way only in my country more than 110 KINGDOM HALLS have been building and also in more than 50 countries at the same time.
if people prefer to not be ready is Ok, I wont take my chance.
If I hear that a huracaine will come Should I be happy and don´t think about that or instead take measures that help me in the future?
By the way how is possible that."...I have been involved in building 3 Kingdom Halls, and the Assembly Hall in Freemont Ca."
If you belong to freeminds why are you working in the construction comitee?

If you don't believe that you must not get out much and I don't need anyone to tell me either. The world is on the verge of a 3rd world war and as soon as some Islamic terriorists get a nuclear weapon we are all history.
It is not like Russia they wanted to live. The Iraq or Islamic people's whole life centers around hell and dieing and going to heaven. Death seems to be their goal. also taking the rest of the world with them.

I do, and I'm not a JW. Just look around you, peoples! Matthew 24:37-39. We're getting close!
Behold He comes
Riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet call
So lift your voice
It's the year of Jubilee
And out of Zion's hill
Salvation comes!
Amen!

Oh yeah. It's just a really loooooooong generation. Some of 'em would have been born in the late 1800s. But don't pay that no nevermind. Any old time now... Translation: infinity.

I don't know what they believe either, but every generation has believed it to be the last. But with each passing generation, it seems to get worse. A christian can't help but see the world in strife and wonder if Armageddon isn't around the corner. This is when it feels good to be a christian and feel we are prepared.

I am a JW and yes we r living in that generation there has been many changes in the society. And yes we do bulid more and more kingdom halls every year. For example my former kingdom Hall we got brand new chairs, new paint, new lighting, ect. We can fix up our kingdom halls if we want to. Although we r living in the last days of the last days we r still in this system and we need to upkeep our kingdom halls too. JW Have contributed so much And I am proud to say I am a JW so watch out I may be knocking on your door next

Ha, Ha, Ha! I am having a wonderful time. Why people want to ruin their lives with negativity and focusing on all the troubles that take place around the world is beyond me. They are unhappy because they make themselves unhappy. Unfortunately, their gloom can make others unhappy too.
I can't even blame it on their religion. Others go to the same churches, and they don't act like these fanatics.

The world hasn't gotten any worse than it was in the past. If anything, it's gotten better and more civilized. There has always always always been evil and violence. Always. People used to throw other people into arenas with lions and call it sport. To the extent that there is the perception of more violence in the world today, it can be attributed to there being a bigger population and having access to instantaneous media.
Currently, we certainly are less barbaric than we used to be, and more advanced in fields such as medicine and science. The sky has been falling since the beginning of time. People should live the lives they have today, and focus on doing good right now, instead of twiddling their thumbs waiting for an apocalypse.
Edit: To Moises: Famine and crime is nothing new, and terrorism didn't start on 911, my friend. Before AIDS there was polio, scarlet fever, and the list goes on and on. Things are getting better worldwide, not just in the US. You could cite me examples of violence and atrocities of today, and I could cite you the same from times past (starting with examples in your bible), and here we go 'round the mulberry bush.
I could go around spreading doomsday messages, or I could seek to learn more and more about the world and how to make it better, and actually apply that knowledge so that my children and others who come after me can benefit from it. I prefer to be a part of the progression, not the regression.

Yes, and it isn't that far off. Soon now the governments of the world will destroy false religion to get rid of the extremists. Who knows what will spark this carnage and it will throw us into the great tribulation that preceeds Armageddon.
