I never heard that phrase before so don't know who it's quoted from.
When I read what you noted this thought came to mind . . .
.
. . .When the eye of a person see the oneness of all . . . that all are one...then they are seeing the light...that light being the Light of " God " the One.
" God " the one is Pure Love...Pure Light energy. We are aspects of that Light...hence we are all one.
Seeing with two eyes a person is seeing things of the world. Seeing with one eye (a single eye) then one is seeing the Light of " God " the One.

Hi Coyote,
I've heard numerous interpretations of this line. Focus on the important is of course one interpretation. Another concerns synthesizing the past and the future into the present. Yet another regards this eye as the third eye or anja center. As with most quotes from the Bible, we can 'see' metaphysical explanations which often make more sense than the black and white words originally portray.
A few quotes:
The third or spiritual eye has several functions. Amongst others, it is the organ for illumination, the unveiled eye of the soul, through which light and illumination comes into the mind, and thus the entire lower life becomes irradiated. It is also the organ through which pours the directing energy which streams out from the conscious creating adept to the instruments of service, his thought-forms.
The "Eye of Shiva" in the human being has its position ... in the centre of the forehead between the two physical eyes.
The third eye is the director of energy or force, and thus an instrument of the will of Spirit. ... It is the eye of the inner vision, and he who has opened it can direct and control the energy of matter, see all things in the Eternal Now, and therefore be in touch with causes more than with effects. . .
The third eye links the awakened physical plane man with the astral or subjective world, and enables him to function consciously there. . . . The third eye is the window of the Ego or soul functioning on the physical plane whereby he looks inward into the three worlds.
When, therefore, sight has been attained and the light streams forth, revelation of the oneness of all life is a simple and immediate occurrence; it comes first of all to the disciple as a flash of wondrous informative and instinctive realisation, and then steadies down, as progress is made, into a constant apprehension and appreciation; it eventually produces the motivating impulse of all action.

Jesus said that on the sermon on the mount (Mathew 6:22)
Now you can take this alot further, Here are some more qoutes from diffrent scripture on the same subject.
If your eye be single to my glory , your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and there shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with light comprendeth all things.
Therefore, sanctify yourselfs that your minds become single to God, and the days will come that ye shall see him; for he will unveil his face unto you, and it shall be in his own time and in his own way, and according to his own will.
That which is of god is light; and he that recieveth light, and continueth in God, recevieth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter untill the perfect day.
Now the lord shines forth light (or otherwise Knowledge or truth) all the day long and darkness (or people with clouded or dark minds) comprehendeth it not.
Cool stuff aint it.

You are quoting an excerpt from the bible, I don't know what the reference is, but it is talkig about the glory of God. If your eye is single to the glory of God, then you will be full of light. Light, in many cultures as well as Jewish, isn't literally light. It's metaphorical... you need light to help you see, right? So light is ability, knowledge, guidance, purity. If you keep your will to coincide with the will of God, He blesses you with more light, and more knowledge, until you have a perfect light and a perfect knowledge of God and of your purpose on Earth, and of much much more! It's a beautiful feeling... to not feel alone or useless, but to feel strong and loved.

Sounds like a reference to the third eye. It is also known as the sixth chakra and equates to clairvoyance or 'clear seeing'. If you see clearly (with the third, but single, eye) you would of course be full of light.
Or it could be a reference to Isis and Osiris and later the masons, but as they are not generally full of light I would suspect the former

We have an ability, rarely used, to get real close to the 'natural self'... to see, the simple fact, that 'I am here'.
The more we 'touch' this natural place (out of the cerebral into the simplicity of the body) the more we will feel en-light-ened.
It is our birthright.

if you keep your eye simple than your whole body will be bright. It's referring to not worrying about worldly things but keeping focused on spiritual things, remember, Jesus' followers are referred to as lamps of the world because we light the way to the truth.

I do not know who you are quoting.
My interpretation:
Guilt and second-guessing oneself dilutes your spirit. Focus on an aim, regardless of the value to others, empowers. Yes, we need to be careful what we strive for on a second-by-second basis.
