Find a large newspaper article. Set some sort of time (I am sure you have one around the house), set it for 5mins then type until it goes off. Then count how many words you typed and divide that by 5.

Get a timer. Set it for one minute, and start typing. Don't worry about spelling errors, it's all part of the test. The average person can type about 45 words a minute.

The link spookysickness put up is pretty accurate, I type about 80 and I averaged about that on that tester.
