My husband is considering joining the Army National Guard and he's looking at the different MOS'. The one that stands out most is Helicopter Repair(15r or x). What we want to know, and recruiters are so vague and noncommital, is:
A. How long is AIT for this job?
B. Where do you you get sent for this AIT?
C. How well does this transfer into civilian life/employment?

I would appreciate and give best answer points to anyone who can give me more detailed information about this. Copying and pasting a link to http://www.1800goguard.com is not helpful, I've been there. Thanks!!!

A) Don't know, but it's a long one I'll bet.
B) Ft. Rucker,Alabama.
C) the first thing he'll be told is that none of his military training or experience is any good.
His best bet is to try to get in what's called the Military Reserve Technician Program. These are people who are in the Guard and also work full time for the Guard. They are paid off the Federal Civil Service payroll. They are pretty good jobs. I was one for 12 years, my wife for 15.

if you google national guard training or army.com those have a lot of information. Personally if i were your husband i would look at other perspectives at this time, but that is me, as they own you literally.
