It says in the Bible in Leviticus 19:19 that I must not wear clothing made of two different kinds of material.
I am very worried. God himself says this to Moses so it is really serious. I wear socks made of cotton and lycra. Does this mean that I am damned to hell? Please help me.

This was a test question; I know my Bible but I don't believe in God. Those of you who do believe are remarkably confident about which of the Almighty's commandments are to be taken literally, and which aren't; many of those of you who thought I was just naive were remarkably rude about how you told me so.

Steve N - it's the same verse in both Bibles, mate. The meaning is unequivocal and it is a direct order from God to Moses.

Okay, one last time... I WAS JOKING! I am a biblically literate atheist who wanted to see what reaction I would get. Nobody else needs to give me a serious answer. I am pleased by the Christians' compassion but disturbed by the apparent ease with which they choose which bits of the Bible they decide to take seriously; I am amused by the mockery of the non-believers, being one myself, but not impressed by how they seemed to think that I deserved to be as stupid as I was pretending to be. For shame, guys; more of you should have tried to tell me that it's ok and that I didn't have to worry.

Hopefully this is a honest question and not an attempt to make fun of Christians.
We are under the new covenant, not the old one. In other words, as Christians we are to adhere to the commandments in the New Testament.
I am by no means telling you to chuck the Old Testament, there is a lot of good stuff in there.
The command in Leviticus 19:19 is not repeated in the New Testament, therefore you are not bound by it.
So go ahead and wear those socks!

Jesus came to fulfill the law. In reality all the petty things that were added to the 10 Commandments were because of the Israelite's hardness of heart. They wanted to have a law instead of a relationship with God, which was what God had intended from the beginning. All He had originally given them was the 10 Commandments. Jesus said that to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, body, and to love your neighbor as yourself fulfilled the law. However, we as humans have to nitpick everything to get around doing what He really wanted from us in the first place. It all boils down to our relationship with the Lord and how we treat others. If we could get a grip on this, everything else would fall into place.

I wear cotton/lycra mix underwear! Does this make me an even bigger sinner than you? And it gets worse. I think I once ate a piece of rock badger!

Um... no, sometimes, the law in the Bible are hardly to use in now day... such as "Stop judging others, and you will not be judge" (Luke 6:37) However, this is very hard not to judge others... we sometimes does it without realizing you did that...
However, according to the my Bible teacher says, you shall be saved as long as you
A: Ask for forgiveness
B: Believe
R: Try hard not to repeat the sin. ..
Remember, sins are around us, and this is impossible to be perfect, because only person perfect is God... Therefore, not to worry so much... As long as you accept Jesus Christ in your life and you admit your sin, then I am surely that dearly God who love you will forgive you

I never wear socks, but I think god's instruction makes sense. Much easier when I have to wash my clothes, I can do evereything in one machine. Thank you Lord, thank you Jesus.
Have a clean day.

Leviticus 19:19
Doubtless was refering to clothing made up of a sort of patchwork differently coloured and arranged for pride and for show, to protect people from being too vain and prideful..
I don't think that will apply to your socks.
